This was something I’ve needed for a while for my lathe. The set included a second backing with a bracket that allows you to mount it.It measures in 1/1000th of an inch increments and has a 1 inch range. Markers are clipped to it that allow you to set beginning and end points. The action on it is very smooth but also firm for good contact to whatever you are working on.Also included is a certificate of inspection and accuracy for what that is worth. It appears to have hand written serial number on the inspection sticker so it does appear to have been tested by a real person. So yeah, I am happy with my order. It’s a good value and is suitable for my needs.

So, this is a nice instrument. I cannot verify how accurate it is, but it did come with a small placard to testify to its accuracy. It comes with a rear plate to be able to attach it to an arm for other purposes, which was below the dial in the package. The package is nice enough to place in your toolbox for safe keeping. I'll have it next to my other delicate tools such as my chisels and similar. The dial is smooth, very sensitive, and though it came with no instructions, is easy enough to figure out how to use with some practice.

For a low cost dial indicator, this one is very good and has most of the features of higher priced units. The case and bezel are well made and the dial is sharp and easy to read. Zeroing is done by rotating the scale and locking it with a thumbscrew. The tolerance tabs are easy to set. The mounting stem is a little shorter than some other indicators but still fits holders well. In operation, the mechanism is smooth and returns to zero every time. Plunger spring tension is about the same as more expensive indicators I have. The plunger and contact point are nicely made and standard extensions attach accurately. A removable plastic back fits into a recess in the case for some dust protection. There's no case included but the cardboard box and fitted Styrofoam insert is usable. As a test, I printed the red fixture shown in the picture mounting this and a certified digital indicator in a drill press with plungers zeroed on the table. As the quill was moved over the 1" range both indicators agreed with most comparisons spot on, any differences noted less than .001" and most of that due to some slop in the quill itself. Hardly a comprehensive test but a very good performance for a low price indicator.A 'Certificate of Inspection and Accuracy' is included but doesn't include any actual test results of the individual indicator as with more expensive ones. It does say that the indicator has been inspected against traceable standards. At $23.99 at this writing, this indicator is a solid tool for what it is and should find use in many applications. I like it.

Construction quality and movement seems to be good, all metal construction and comes with a base. What I didn't like and I'm not a machinist so this may be a personal preference but the bezel had to moved to about the 10:00 position to zero the needle and the rotation counter does no accurately zero. The 10:00 position can be changed with the bevel adjustment screw. It will still work and I will use it for the intended purpose and I'm sure it's accurate but it just looks funny to me. Calibration certification is handwritten which I think is a nice touch. I know that doesn't mean it's accurate but I suspect if they go through the trouble of handwriting the certificate they have place some effort in the process.

This dial should not be this cheap. I tested against my Mitutoyo and they perform extremely close. The dial is easy to read. The bezel has a bit of resistance, more than higher quality dials but not a deal breaker. The plunger is smooth throughout and the stem is well machined. I mounted it on a Noga, and it didn't slip or move at all.I tested against my Mitutoyo measuring travel on a lathe with DRO. On a 1" measurement the Mitutoyo resulted on 1.00056". The Neoteck came extremely close at 1.00075". That's less than 0.001" tolerance. For $24 bucks it shouldn't be this accurate. An amazing budget option to have either as additional dial or your main one.

I’ve been using this dial indicator mainly for CNC and lathe alignment, and overall, I’m pretty impressed. The build quality is solid, full metal construction gives it a durable feel, and the movement is smooth and accurate. The 0.001" resolution has been reliable for fine adjustments, and it returns to zero consistently. Mounting was easy with the detachable rear cover and dual mounting options. The dial is clear and easy to read, even in my dimly lit shop. I also appreciate the versatility, it worked great for tramming my mill and leveling my 3D printer. Only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is the bezel could feel a bit tighter.

The indicator comes safely and neatly packaged in a small box, complete with an extra lug back that can be installed. The crystal is perfect with no blemishes, scratches, or imperfections at all. The movement is very smooth and the indicator repeats well when set up on a surface gauge and tested with gauge blocks - my eyes cannot perceive any deviation in needle position.I ordered this Neoteck indicator to use in harsh and dirty situations that I don't want to subject my much more expensive indicators to (for example, runout of a brake rotor and other automotive applications), and it performs excellent. Highly recommended!

Neoteck 1"/0.001" Dial Indicator,Dial Indicator Gauge Hardened Stainless Steel Precision Tool for Lathe,Table Saw,Workshop and CNC Machiningseems fine for the class that it is in. 24bills for a dial indicator is what it is. that said, this feels quite nice in the hand has some heft to it, so alot of metal components. motion is nice and looks nice. is it going to compete with a mitutoyo? no. it is not meant to. i will be using it to make my print beds right. for this its gonna be just fine. there are alot of places where this will be handy, where its economical nature wont cause any trouble. given that this basically a test for offsets, or deviations and doesnt have to be set to a standard to provide good information its accuracy isnt something i am worried about. so for instance, i run a bed level test. it hits 10 spots. relative to itself it will be exactly the information i require. what is high and what is low. and adjust and redo the test. budget indicators are great for this. it includes a cedrt of inspection and accuracy which feels a little silly. i would have preferred a manual with a picture and usage information. the person purchasing this is not a machinist.
