I needed it to connect a sheared 4" id clay pipe to 4" pvc pipe. It works fine. I couldn't get it fully inserted in the clay end (too much friction). I used silicone grease (faucet grease) on the clay end, it helped. I tried inserting the rubber boot in first, then inserting the blue piece inside it. The didn't work too well either. All but the last rib ended up being installed in the clay end.

This was an extremely tough install for 4" sdr-35 pipe. I initially lubed up everything... Big mistake. Washed all the parts off and only lubed the section that I had to press in (either adapter or the pipe) the friction of the non lubed pipe helped hold it in place. The rubber gasket kept folding into joint the other times.. took about 1/2 hr to do... About the same amount of time as chipping out the concrete for a coupler but I avoided patching. I wouldn't use again unless I was desperate.

I had a pipe that broke under a concrete slab and there was no way to get it fixed without breaking open more of the concrete which would have cost me a ton of money. After going to multiple plumbing stores and being told there is no way to fix it m, I came across this on Amazon and it worked perfectly. Would highly recommend.
