The product I purchased and installed began to leak within a month of installation. When I attempted to remove the stack it was broken and stuck. The product is defective and is past the return window. I would not recommend this product.

First off, please know that this is NOT a genuine Clack part. For the price, however, Id' be OK with that if this item had actually worked. Right off, something did not quite match up between this item and my WS-1 Clack filter head. This item was very difficult to fit into place. Even with generous amounts of the proper lube, it was a very tight fit - not good from the start. Second problem was that this brine piston had slightly different dimensions from the old one and that caused the whole system to stop working. I eventually had to call in the professionals to troubleshoot, which cost another $100 just for the visit. The tech nearly broke the head valve removing this stack because it was such a tight (incorrect) fit and upon close inspection he discovered that this stack was a good bit larger than the name brand item that Clack manufactures. So here I am, sadder and wiser, having narrowly escaped very expensive repairs to my system just because I wanted to save $20 buying what the tech called, "a cheap, Chinese piece of (expletive)". Don't be me. Spend the extra $15-$20 and buy the genuine part from a Clack distributor.

Tried a couple other ones from other companies, this one worked great the first time with no more leaks. Easy to install and works great.

Too good to be true. Our water softener was continually draining water. Not a lot but enough to know that it was a problem. Besides a lot of money going down the drain. The YouTube video I watched accurately diagnosed the problem & the fix. I bought this part and did the install. Very simple job. BUT, the constant leak/draining didn't stop. Thought I did something wrong. Had to call the water softener repair company. I told the service guy what part(s) I replaced. He said, "Well, that's what I was planning to do." He said he would look at the install just to make sure I had done it correctly. When he went to remove the spacer stack assembly (part that looks like leaning tower of Pisa), it was very stuck. As he (and I) attempted to remove it, it started coming apart. Nevertheless, we got all pieces of it out. Yep, it had to come out in pieces because of how stuck it was. He replaced it with the spacer stack assembly he brought and the leak stopped immediately. He and I were both puzzled as to why the Amazon parts didn't work properly. They looked identical in size, shape. The color of the piston was a little different. Both are yellow. His piston AND my old/bad one was a darker yellow than the Amazon one.So, instead of fixing the leak myself for $49.00, I paid $490. to have the service company replace the same part(s), only with theirs. I included a photo of the piston and the packaging that his parts came in case anyone needs part #'s/info on parts that will actually work. Good luck!

kits look very similar but have slight differences. The correct replacement kit for mine starts with CV not just v. The cartridges are different in length. Wrong cartridge will leak when installed.

My water softener was leaking badly internally, sending a constant stream of water down the drain. I was able to identify it as a WS1 type valve and found a YouTube video showing how to do the repair. This part was a direct fit and fixed the leak for much less money than calling for service or replacing the whole unit. No issues or drama with fitment. Very pleased.
