Using this and a PCI-E to NVME adapter I was able to get a 2.5G networking card working on my Raspberry Pi 5. You will need some soft of external power source, I had an older SATA hard drive adapter that worked.I can't say this will work with every PCI-E adapter on the Pi, or with every PCI-E device. But it worked for me.

This adapter card worked perfectly for adding a PCIe slot to my mini-PC. It's basically plug-and-play: just insert the card into an M.2 M-key slot, tighten one screw, and connect 12V power. A SATA power to 4-pin Berg cable is included, but I made my own to plug directly into my PC's motherboard.From there, you can install nearly any x1 to x16 PCIe card, but you'll need to remove or trim its slot cover due to limited height clearance. If it's an x1 card, be sure to plug it in the right way. As of writing this review, some of the product listing photos actually show a PCIe card inserted backwards. Don't do that.In use, the adapter works exactly as I hoped it would. My mini-PC had no trouble recognizing the video card that I installed, automatically using it as the primary display output. A green LED on the adapter board shines when everything's powered up.Overall, this adapter does the job nicely, and it comes complete with power cable, screw, and screwdriver. Recommended.
