What is a Ball Joint?
- A ball joint is usually a ball-in socket design, lubricated with grease and covered with a dust boot
- Ball joints are the critical component of the suspension that connect various links and allow them to move
What do Ball Joints Consist of?
- Ball joints consist of a metal housing and stud
- The stud can swing and rotate within the housing
- The socket is filled with grease to provide lubrication, keep debris and water out of the socket, and maintain noise free operation
Symptoms of Worn Ball Joints
- Worn ball joints contribute to looseness in the suspension
- The driver may notice steering looseness, steering vibration, or unusual noises but it often causes other problems before it may be noticeable to the driver
- A worn ball joint is not a problem that should be ignored. If the wear becomes severe, the stud may separate from the housing resulting in immediate loss of control of your vehicle which puts you in great danger

I used these in my 2014 Polaris Ranger. They fit fine, but I gave 4 starts because they're extremely stiff. I had to use a plastic mallet to adjust the position to get the stems to fit in the bearing carrier. I'm not sure if this is normal. The steering is noticeably stiffer than it was before (my rig doesn't have power steering). Hopefully they'll loosen up and relax a bit over time.
