When the time came to install these studs on the day of assembly, they didn’t want to thread in easily enough to make me confident that they would not deform the surrounding surface and jeopardize the sealing and mating surfaces. The studs have an appearance of some treatment if only a hardening heat treatment. But this rough texture was what kept them from being used. I removed the original studs from the old cylinder using the two nut method and installed them in the same manner into the new. They went in with expected fit that I would say was a required torque effort of about 15 foot pounds, the unused studs were three times that after only a few threads and would have had to be chased with a die in order to be used.
