I bought three. Did not come with toothpicks. The ones I had were apparently too long so I had to buy another box of round toothpicks that were slightly shorter. Two of them work but very roughly, not at all smooth like others I have purchased from a different company in a slightly different bird shape. The third one did not work at all. In fact, it broke the toothpick in half. I purchased these as party favors And ended up wanting to give them to people for Christmas. The return window has long ago passed. I would not recommend this toothpick dispenser. There is another bird dispenser that cost about two dollars more and it is mostly red and black. That one takes all sizes of toothpicks and works very smoothly. I have had mine for over 15 years and have always purchased them to give to people who are delighted with that dispenser. Do not buy this black white and gold dispenser as it looks cheap and the mechanism is not smooth. You also have to purchase toothpicks for it and those toothpicks must be the right size. One of the worst purchases I have made

The toothpicks never came out of the drawer so the bird 🐦 could pick them up! Cute little bird but never did work
