Optimized for Nikon's compact DX-format DSLRs, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR II features a retracting design that's small and lightweight. Its versatile zoom range goes from 55mm, great for portraits and group shots, up to 200mm telephoto for catching close-ups on the sports field, school events and more. Vibration Reduction (VR) helps keep your photos sharp and your videos steady.

Lens description was not exactly what I got. The one option I needed, the VR vibration reduction, was not in this lens.

I have many expensive Nikon lenses, but I wanted one to put on an old D300 body to throw behind the seat of my truck. Wasn't going to put on one of my good lenses for that purpose so I bought this renewed 55-200 4-5.6 lens. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer by any means, but good enough for most things I intend to use the camera for. Functions as it should and looks new. Took a few photos with it and with a tad of tweaking of sharpness in editing it was more than acceptable. Can't report on the image stabilization as I have not played with that feature and probably never will. I have been a professional photographer for more than 50 years and find image stabilization to be just a gimmick feature for people who don't really understand photography. But that is my 2 cents. Reasonable lens for the price.

This lens is fantastic. I was a little concerned about buying a refurbished lens, but I have no complaints whatsoever. It was like new when I took it out of the box. It was so much cheaper than buying the lens new. I've been I using it for about 5 months with no issues. If you want to research this lens, check out Ken Rockwell's site. Filled with extremely useful information that will help you make a decision on the right lens.

This lens is very nice. I am a novice but since the my son is in sports I need to close the distance from the bleachers to get a nice shot. This has worked as described. I am able to zoom in close and get the shots I need without much fuss. The F'stops are the same as the Kit lens so I figured I would not lose anything. The price was amazing as refurbished. The performance in doors is obviously not going to be as good as the SUNNY outdoors but it is still better than the kit. I really like how this lens compliments the kit lens. I also have a 35mm 1.8 prime lens for better shots and this is a great compliment. You can not go wrong. The quality is just like the kit lens and performance is just like the kit lens just better zoom.

I've had this lens for a little under a month now and I'm enjoying it! It came well packaged, and it's very light (expected, considering the amount of plastic in the construction) and rather compact - just a little larger than the 18-55mm kit lens when collapsed, but focuses very quickly and quietly, and delivers sharp pictures. The vibration reduction (VR) works very well as well - all the photos uploaded with this review were shot handheld, and the pine tree and trees with the red and purple flowers were shot from a moving car (no, I wasn't driving). The only issue I've noted to date is that part of the inner seal at the back of the lens appears to have been removed and not replaced during the refurbishing process - no idea how that will affect the longevity of the lens. Other than that, satisfied with the purchase.

Solid for middle-to-long distance shots. Works perfectly alongside my other Nikkor lenses. Go for the for high depth of field portraits or close-ups, or the for mid-range or portrait shots, or the for your breathtaking panoramas.

Lens is working great. We have been using it to take shots of some of the concerts my wife plays in. It zooms really quiet compared to our Sigma 55-300 lens. The VR helps for clearer pictures when we are zoomed way out. We picked this lens up on the cheap as a refurbished lens. I was nervous at first but having used it for several months now, I will likely start looking for refurbs before looking at new stock.
