Comes in a well designed kit and is relatively easy to set up. The base is marble and heavy enough to provide stability to the finished product. The shade is in the kit, but is folded up in a way that makes it easy to attach to the circular steel top and bottom shade supports. The light level is controlled by a variable knob near the top of the support column.My only comment is on the suitability of the light bulb that comes in the box. When the light has been on for a few hours it begins to flare up, then down, as if the bulb is causing an electrical hazard and a possible fire hazard.. I changed that bulb for one of slightly smaller output sold by GE and the electrical problems appear to be solved. For the price and with the correct bulb, it looks great and does the job for a very low price.

I'm absolutely loving this lamp! It's a very classic and universal for most decorating styles. The marble on the bottom is thichn and sturdy so the lamp seems to be a very good quality.Great value for the money and I love the easy on and off switch as well as the easy ability to dim or brighten with just a dial. I have some arthritus issues and those tiny switches are hard to use, but this one is a breeze. The cord was pretty long and I like the brushed finish on the gold.I was hesitant at first about the shade, as you have to put it togther yourself by snapping it onto the frame. I could see it coming apart easily, but I haven't seen it so far. I've had several compliments on this lamp from folks with different styles than mine so I really think it's universally flattering.

I liked this so much, I sold another lamp I had and replaced it with a second one of these.It is very easy to put together. The base is real marble. It's very heavy and looks really good. The shade comes rolled up and you clip it onto two metal frames then the seam velcros together. It's actually pretty clever for compact shipping and there's less risk of the shade getting damaged in the box.The bulb that comes with this is I think 4000K or cooler. I bought more bulbs because I prefer 2700K. I tried a non dimmable bulb at first and they definitely do not work in this type of lamp, so make sure you get a dimmable bulb if you don't use the provided one.The dimming knob is metal, not cheap feeling. There's a click as you turn it on and the dimming is smooth.Love both of my lamps!

The simple design of this floor lamp works in many spaces. Assembly was simple and only takes a few minutes. I've placed this in my living room next to a sofa where I needed some extra light, but I didn't need anything too large. It's great to have the step-less dimming function since I can keep the brightness very low for TV watching or turn in up for reading. The white marble base provides lots of stability. I chose the gold finish to match my decor. I wish it had more of a burnished gold tone since its spray-painted look somewhat cheapens the overall appearance of the lamp. Also, since the stem of the lamp comes in multiple pieces, you do see the seams once they are screwed together. But, that seems to be the case with most floor lamps in this price-point. The white linen drum shade provided is basic and needed to be assembled, but it does coordinate well with the white base.
