The Sentinel™ keeps a watchful eye over the night projecting highly visible laser lines for your own personal bike lane, enhancing your safety immeasurably, while also giving you protection during the day with Daylight Visible Flash (DVF) technology. Also features an innovative Group Ride Mode where you can be seen without distracting fellow cyclists’ attention from the pavement or dirt. At 116 grams the USB rechargeable Sentinel meets all required FL1 Standards for impact testing and dust/water resistance. The easy on-and-off seat post strap with quick release tab makes the Sentinel convenient when you do need to give it a quick charge.

Replaces one I lost; one of my minor gripes with this model is that it may not clip firmly into the bracket unless you wrestle with it a bit. The other is that the USB charging connector could be a bit more directed/easier to line up on. But it's as good as anything I've seen and better than most. Expect to have to pull hard to mount the bracket if you're putting it on the seat stem socket; the rubber is just barely long enough to stretch around the thickest posts.

The NiteRider Sentinel 250 Taillight was an excellent purchase for me. I love the fact that it's very bright and has many light settings,. One of the features it allows you to have a red beam or laser that is a solid red light or a blinking red on both sides of your bike. P.S. I purposely waited for it to get dark outside to go out and use this feature, Brought the kid out of me, LOL. Thank you.

I've had lots of flashing rear lights, and most of them last for weeks on a pair of AA batteries. This thing, flashing (not on steady, and not including the two laser beams) only lasts for one hour and the charge indicator says it's dying. Pathetic!I love the two laser beams that skirt the bicycle and people have actually stopped me to ask how I do that, so obviously it's a pretty bright light. See attached photos. If it wasn't for the cool laser beams, I would rate this about two stars for the terrible battery life. The controls are a pain for someone with big fingers, or wearing cold weather gloves. The two functions are side by side so it's easy to hit the wrong one, then you have to cycle through the functions and hold it down to turn it off. You shouldn't need an engineering degree to operate a flashing rear light! K.I.S.S.!The mounting is just okay. You can hang it from your seat bag, or you can mount it from your seat post. One of my seat bags doesn't have a little place to clip it and there's no room to mount it to the seat post, so of course I can't use it on that bike. The seat post mount is kind of bulky.Don't get me wrong, I've been using NiteRider lights for a long time, but based on my recent experience the current generation is not as robust as the ones we could get some years back.

I really like the laser lanes, however, another rider with me says it's a unnecessary distraction that may cause people to drift towards me as they try to figure out what it is. That's a bonefide point, however, I like it nonetheless. Make your decision for yourself, I like the laser lanes.I have learned that the super bright mode is too bright at night when other riders are behind you. That is indisputable. Plus, I am told that it is probably tweaking some of the drivers of vehicles off. At the same time however, allot of vehicles change lanes to get away from me than ever before - even though I am on an 11 foot wide shoulder. And that is good, because I am being noticed. And bad, if someone wants to take me to task for the bright light. A double edged sword. There are "wolves" in the people world. These human wolves are evil, unlike their honorable canine counterparts. There are a number of modes to choose from while riding. Choose your mode based on the riders around you, width and number or lanes, shoulder width, volume of traffic and lighting conditions. You may want to consider using the brightest red mode for the daylight only. You never know when that one angry person in a bad mode wants to take you on. Bottom line, I love the light. Just consider the double edged sword concept.
