I bought the Nix Mini 2 sensor some time ago. But didn't need it until a couple of weeks ago. I could not get it to start up and contacted the company, which quickly offered to replace the Mini 2 with the newest model, Mini 3.The company was very quick to react, first suggesting ideas to get the Mini2 to working and then switching to offering to send me a brand new Mini 3, which is working great!I can't recommend this company enough

Had the original Nix Pro, upgraded to this one. Not much of an upgrade. The app has definitely been made 100x worse and more complex for ZERO real reason. Nothing was wrong with the original app. It works, and as long as you use it to check paint, and don't dive into the settings, should work well for you as well. Wished they kept the old app. It was very user friendly, especially for people like me who aren't professionals, but bought a big house and don't want to repaint all 4700sq ft of it just because the people who worked on it before me didn't color match properly. It has worked well for that.Where this fails is saving colors and by rooms. Every time I try to do that, and I try to do it in what I think is the right way, never can find the swatch I need. So I've resorted to screen cap and using my S24 Ultra's stylus to label the screenshot for the room. Which is super frustrating. Don't get me wrong, the old app was also TERRIBLE at it.It's an annoying product, but if you're like me, like the wall colors in your home, and don't want to repaint the whole room just for patch jobs, or try to eyeball the color with a color swatch (even though I did buy a Sherwin Williams Fan deck of colors). When I did use it, it worked well and was accurate. Only thing it can't tell you is the finish type. Like did they use an "Eggshell", "Flat", or "Satin" on the walls? WHO KNOWS... I'm not experienced enough to differentiate that on feel. It's a niche product for prosumers, annoying to use, but seems accurate. Do love that it has a silly large library of colors to choose from, apparently only if you're in North America or the UK, everywhere else, not so much. I live in the US, so all good there. I recommend it for flippers and first time home owners. Will save you tons of work and money, paying for itself in time. Also this was like 150 or 200 cheaper than the old Nix I bought.

Finally! A way to match paint colors without taking a lucky guess or cutting out a piece of whatever I am painting. This is going to save so much time. I found it very easy to use with the app and the size allows it to fit perfectly in my pocket or my purse. Will definitely recommend to anyone who paints on a regular basis.

We just went through a major learning experience trying to match the color of our front porch shutters to our faux wood grain front door. I’m glad we were patient and didn’t give up based upon initial results. The door has a significant amount of localized color variation. Our initial attempt to match the color by eye using the small Sherwin Williams color wheel swatches involved me, my wife, and two professional painters. We chose what everyone agreed was a good match, but after applying the paint we ended up with a much lighter shade of brown. That was a fail!Since I could not take any part of my door to my Sherwin Williams paint store for a precision color match, I started looking at handheld paint colorimeters. I chose the Nix Mini 3R based upon positive reviews, availability, and price. The Mini 3R is a Mini 3 factory recalibrated and refurbished with the plastic parts replaced. I received the unit on a Saturday, 50 minutes before the paint store closed. I was able to install the app on my phone, quick charge the battery for 20 minutes, take two readings on the door, and got to the store 4 minutes before closing. The Mini 3R had found no close matches but identified 25 SW partial matches. I picked up color swatches of the top four matches and headed back home. We were a bit disappointed in all four, but I decided to give the Nix one more chance. I began sampling several different spots on the door, and although there were marked differences in hue, each time the Nix produced the same top choice. So, next day, I went back to SW and purchased a $12 container of their paint sampler which only comes in satin finish. I painted a 1x2 ft piece of plywood, and taped it to the shutter. Looking at a larger panel, and with the shutter approximately ten feet away from the door, it became obvious the color match suggested by the Nix was quite good. I then went back to SW and bought a quart of the same color in gloss finish to better match the varnished door. Painting the bottom half of the plywood with the gloss produced the final result. It is win!I have since used the Mini 3R to sample two colors on the outside of the house, and eight color swatches, four each from SW and PPG. It was dead-on identifying the two outdoor colors and seven of the eight swatches. The Nix is very good at identifying colors that are an exact match to manufacturer’s production colors. As you might expect, finding colors that are a close match is more challenging, especially when trying to match an artificial wood grain finish. I’m glad we trusted the Nix enough to purchase a sample and paint a larger panel. We learned color matches look very different based upon sample size, lighting, positioning, separation distance, and sheen. If you are considering purchase of a Nix, I would say do it, and don’t give up without producing a realistic sized sample. It is a good colorimter.

As a happy Nix Mini 2 user which had to be thrown away when the battery died, I purchase a Nix Mini 3. Main difference appeared to be a USB C charging port (until this battery won't take a charge and it turns to trash too.) Mini2 had a useful app with lots of color information. That app no longer is available and it does not work with a Mini3. The Mini3 will give you RGB codes and paint company color names but nothing else. If all you need are RGB values this product is ok, but the company clearly could have updated their earlier more useful app, but their technical support confirmed that they chose not to do so.I would not have purchased this product had I known of the poor app. I would suggest anyone serious about color ignore this company and not purchase their products. (Besides, it would be nice to have servable battery --- but they make more money if we have to throw them in the trash.)

Had a repair done on my Tesla bumper and wanted to verify the new bumper matches the main body. Works fine. Now I can sleep soundly.Since then found many others uses for it. For example matching paint colour of my bedroom ceiling. Well worth the cost.

I was disapointed to discover that the product was refurbished, something that wasn’t obvious in the text on the website. And the charging didn’t work at all.

I got this for my husband who has over 20 years of experience as professional painter and decorator. He has always been very doubtful about any colour scanner and that they would give reliable results but because a job that was coming up with several colours to match, he knew he would start running between the shop and would need to spend an awful lot of money for tester pots.I took the plunge and thought if it doesnt work, we have tried but it could save him a lot of unnecessary running around. The delivery was prompt with amazon prime as usual and the set up of the scanner was super easy with the phone app.Well, what can we say. The results initially seemed like the shades were showing darker. But using then some tester booklets and scanning colours that we knew what they were, the matches were 100%, including the paint brand and colour name. What my husband did say that what one would need to keep in mind that certain paint brands just dont do exact matches that you may need. So you need to know your way around different companies and adjust your search result accordingly. For example shade X may be an exact match from Farrow&Ball or Johnsons but may not be available from Dulux. All in all the job that he did ended up being very quick because of the paint matches worked and the client was very happy. We hope the scanner will last and will be a great investment for years to come in regular use. Thank you
