Product Description

NF-F12 5V header

The NF-F12 5V is a dedicated 5V version of Noctua’s award-winning, premium-quality NF-F12 120mm fan. Featuring an AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) standard frame and sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as the FocusedFlow system, the NF-F12 is renowned for its superior performance and outstanding quietness of operation. Smooth Commutation Drive technology and Noctua’s reference class SSO2 bearing ensure superb running smoothness and excellent long-term stability. Topped off with the included USB power adaptor cable and OmniJoin adaptor se, the NF-F12 5V is a premium choice for demanding 5V applications.

NF-F12 5V

5V version

5V fans are used in various devices and applications. With the included USB power adaptor cable and OmniJoin adaptor set, the NF-F12 5V is a proven premium solution that gives you full flexibility both for replacing existing 5V fans and for new, custom applications.

Please Note: Being a 5V fan, the NF-F12 5V cannot be run at 12V and will be damaged when used with typical 12V power sources such as PC motherboard fan headers.

NF-F12 Impeller

Heptaperf Impeller

Custom designed for the new Focused Flow frame and to work in tandem with the eleven stator guide vanes, the NF-F12's seven blade Heptaperf impeller has been carefully optimised to achieve a perfect balance between power and quietness.

SSO2

SSO2 bearing

The NF-F12 is the first fan to feature the further optimised second generation of Noctua's renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability.

NF-F12 VCN

Varying Angular Distance and Vortex Control Notches

The NF-F12's stator guide vanes are set out in Varying Angular Distance and feature Vortex-Control Notches. Both measures help to spread the noise emission over a broader frequency spectrum and thus make the fan's sound pattern more agreeable to the human ear.

USB

USB power adaptor cable

The fan includes a USB power adaptor cable that allows it to run on power banks, devices with USB host ports or USB power supplies such as those used for smartphones, giving you near endless possibilities for using the fan in your home, in your car or wherever a need for cooling occurs!

Used this fan to replace the large center fan in a Kootek laptop cooling pad.Fan comes with all possible connectors you could possibly need. I used the provided 3M solderless connectors. Worked great!Temp at idle went from avg. 45℃ with all fans running to 35℃ with only the Noctua in the center running.I've used many Noctua fans for tower builds in the past. One PC built in 2008 is still going strong as are the Noctua fans. Still running that machine on XP.

I bought this to try to drop the temp on my CPU when under heavier loads. It is mounted under my laptop table blowing up through slots in the table and is powered by one of the USB ports on my laptop. Before I added this fan, I would see temps as high as 90-91C for all cores under heavy load (using the Core Temp App). Since I added this fan, the temps have never gone above 70C. It is also VERY quiet - so quiet that I found myself checking for air flow the first few times I turned it on.The one negative comment I have is that it doesn't have any sort of grill or protection over the inlet side of the fan so it is possible to accidentally touch the fan blades while the fan is spinning (at least in the configuration that I am using it). I will probably look for a simple grill that I can add on to prevent that from happening.

This is one of the famous brand of manufacturing FAN in the world. This product I ordered which is 5V version, 1500 rpm fixed speed and with many accessories in the box as well. It is also the first FAN product I got that the design of the box is so pretty with detailed information and instructions. Although it seems to be low speed, it is well done in cooling my laptop and it is super quiet as the product name described. It is highly recommended their product to any one who want to get the premium product no matter in design, performance, appearance and silence.

So, if you have browsed through any PC Building forum or something alike, you will see a lot of brands that are recommended because of their quality, price or some other characteristic. And while most of them are the real deal, you need to be wary sometimes, because paid online reviews are a thing, and because some brands can only keep the hype going for a short time (like those awful Razer laptops with the bulging batteries). So, that's where I started: I saw people recommending Noctua and at first I thought it was just a common overhyped fan brand, so I decided to buy the USB version and see if it holded some water on its own.And here I am, I absolutely love how it moves air around and how nice its design is (for a fan, that is). The color looked wrong at first for me, but it has grown on me and I think it actually helps to keep it clean, since any dust or smudge is easy to find and clean. I'm using it to cool an UPS and it actually does a great difference at keeping it cool, so it guess a pass from me.As for the product itself: the packaging was nice, it came with a USB-A to some male female pin layout, which is used to connect the fan which has a normal fan header. This fan uses 5V, so beware of not connecting to a normal motherboard header, unless you want to fry either your fan or the motherboard.Inside the package, there was the following:1) 4x NM-SFS1 fan screws2) 4x NA-AV1 anti-vibration mounts3) NA-JC2 OmniJoin cable4) NA-AC7 USB power adaptor cable5) NA-EC2 30cm extension cableI'm not using all of them, since the UPS is on a table, and I just put the fan next to it to get the air flowing. If you have more questions, or want pics of the fan or its package, let me know and I will update this review

My desk top sound level is around 35 db without the fan running but goes to 53 db with a 180+- cps humming sound with the Noctua NF-F12 5V fan running whether connected to my laptop USB port or a 5V USB charger. The sound from the Noctua is about the same level as an AC Infinity Axial LS1238 Quiet Muffin Fan, 120V 8W AC but the Axial sound is broad spectrum and not as noticeable. Mounted in a computer enclosure the sound from the Noctua may not be as noticeable.
