Good transfer speeds but the drive has started disconnecting from my M4 Mac mini after the latest Mac OS update. Other drives on my system maintain a rock solid connection with no issues. Apple is pretty strict about compatibility so there could be something related to the chipset or firmware of this device that doesn't adhere to the USB/Thunderbolt 4 standard.

After using this 40Gbps m.2 ssd enclosure for several month, this product is really what I need, an aluminum portable enclosure without a fan to pair my WD Black SN850X 4tb SSD. I ran speed tests on my mac and they both fell within expected speed (2500 write, 3000 read).I also made the extra storage for my new mac mini m4, which is also much suit for this. Not only quite as the internal storage of the mini, but also fast enough to serve as the every-day boot volume to spare the internal from additional wear and tear. Set up is much simple and it runs relatively cool to touch. A cost-effective solution for extra storage, high recommend this one.No driver needed, plug and play. Highly recommend it.

One of the best NVMe enclosure l used and l have a few. Nice built and come with all you need to setup the HD. And even with a bag for storage when on the move heatsink pad and that it which is great. No fan so no humming noise does get a little hot but that expected. The write and read speeds over 3000 with 2TB NVMe drive but you have to use the lead it come's with and a good NVMe drive. Overall a great buy a little costly but worth the Money A+

The case runs cool (for a fanless enclosure). It’s warm to the touch. It’s fast. I use it to run my Mac Mini M4 with a 4TB drive. This case lets my external drive (with the right NVMe) exceed the internal read/write drive of the internal drive. It works beautifully. I’d buy it again.

Returned one with fan before purchased this one due to the fan noise. This enclosure was built with big and heavy aluminum to dispense the heat. The thermal pads enclosed covered a small chip and the sad you installed. The performance is good but the chip generated a lot of heat after a while. I used Google Pixel 8 Pro to measure the surface temperature and it reported around 101F though my hand felt it might be less 40+ C and less than 50C. Those enclosures that support USB 4 use the same chip that creates a lot of heat and and the heat dispense is the major concern when you decide which one to buy. Hope it lasts long and won’t kill my SSD.

As others have already remarked, the enclosure is solid, both electronically and physically, it has very good cooling (a massive chunk of metal) and it reports not only status but also bandwidth (green vs. white light). For its price it's unbeatable (currently the cheapest bus-powered fanless high speed SSD enclosure you can buy). Also, make sure you DO NOT use the supplied cable as it's not capable of operating at 40Gb/s, no matter what the silkscreening on the cable might say. Instead, get a Thunderbolt 4 cable and you're good. They can be had for not too much money, unless you insist on the Intel certified variants (which cost $$$).

I am a media worker, frequently works with large data sets and high-speed file transfers, need the SSD enclosures with M.2 SSD come and go for easily work. Such 40Gbps SSD Enclosure I’ve been testing over the past few weeks has completely impressed with cooling system – no Fan, no Noise. But with very good heat dissipation. What sets this model apart is its solid metal construction and intelligent heat dissipation design. The aluminum case not only provides a durable and sleek exterior but also acts as a passive heat sink. The material efficiently absorbs and disperses heat without the need for a noisy fan. Even during sustained high-speed transfers, the enclosure remains surprisingly cool to the touch, and there’s zero audible fan noise.I’ve also impressed by the performance and design, especially when it comes to its innovative cooling system and robust, fanless construction. The construction of the 40Gbps SSD enclosure is also sturdy. The aluminum body provides excellent protection for your SSDs, while also keeping the device lightweight and portable. The build quality is solid enough to absorb heat efficiently, ensuring that your drive stays safe even during long, demanding tasks. If you’re looking for an enclosure that combines ultra-fast performance with fanless cooling and a durable build, this model is definitely worth considering. It’s a perfect solution for anyone serious about speed and efficiency without compromising on noise or design.Highly recommended.
