Achieving a Consistent Texture

To apply KiwiGrip, use a brush or trowel to spread a consistent layer, ensuring one person handles the application and another does the rolling for uniform technique. Work in small sections, keeping edges wet to maintain consistent texture, much like painting a room. Start in a corner and move systematically, rolling up and down while maintaining a wet edge. Avoid rolling over areas that have started to dry, as this can cause texture differences in the overlap.

  • This depends on your usage. Decks last 10+ years for weekenders but may need recoating every 5 years with heavy use. High-traffic areas are easy to refresh with cleaning and reapplication.

  • Yes. KiwiGrip isn’t a sealant and has microscopic pores allowing water to reach the substrate. While it adheres well to metal, an epoxy primer is needed to protect against water damage.

  • KiwiGrip's non-skid texture is created by its "loopy-goopy" roller, with pressure controlling the aggressiveness of the peaks. Test on a small area first to achieve your desired level of anti-skid before applying to the whole deck.

  • For a very aggressive texture, let the coating partially dry, then back-roll to sharpen the peaks. Test by back-rolling every 5 minutes to find the ideal timing as KiwiGrip thickens but isn’t tacky.

  • Apply KiwiGrip with a 4" brush or notched trowel for even thickness, then texture with the roller. Use two thin coats on darker surfaces for better coverage.

We have used this numerous times on the nonskid decking of our boat. We continue to buy more as we need it. It's water based and easy to use and clean up.

Really a great product ! Practice on a small area to get your desired texture. We used it on our trojan my and is easy to clean and really last in the florida sun. The anti slip is great easy to apply and water clean up. Just give it a full 48hours to cure
