Pros: The pot itself is a very useful size. Cons: 1) The product is very light-weight 2) the steamer handle doesn't work so you have to get creative with a pot-holder, dish-towel, etc in order to remove it once the food is cooked. 3) The basket itself is very small relative to the size of the pot. 4) The handles on the pot itself get hot and if you forget that, you will burn your hands by accidentally touching them.

I got this to go with a set by same brand that did not have a small to mid-range stock pot. It is a great match, and I like it better than the ones from the full set. A terrific in-between size. Tall with small footprint. The handles are smooth, shape is easy to set on stove and move around. The glass lid is nice.

A little on the light side, but it's also on the budget end of the cost spectrum. I don't cook a great deal, so this fits in perfectly for my needs.

For the past eight years I’ve been steaming vegetables almost on a daily basis. There are numerous occasions I’ve left the pot unattended therefore causing the liquid to dry up completely—several steamer pots have been tossed due to my negligence. I read all the reviews on this pot (more cons than pros) and decided to purchase. I’m delighted I did because this steamer does a nice job for me 80% of the time. Please let me describe how I handled some of your gripes (and completely understand your concerns).A. Once the water has started a full boil and you’ve placed the steamer basket on top, turn the heat down 35-40% or until it stops hissing and spluttering, then let steam for time allotted.B. If the item is too large to fit into the steamer basket, chop into smaller pieces, e.g., I like to keep cauliflower whole when steaming, now I trim the thick stalk way down which removes a couple of inches allowing me to fit the whole cauliflower into the steamer.Yes, I agree the steamer basket appears to be smaller, however, through trial and error and a little finagling I’ve managed to adjust nicely to this appliance. The price convinced me ultimately...Ann

Works great...I use it all the time. I wanted an electric, stand alone steamer but it seems they all have BPA in them. Wasn't sure if it would hold much but it does hold quite a bit. It spews water a little bit while cooking...not sure if it would bother anyone but it doesn't bother me since it's not that much or messy. Great price on Prime!***Update 3/1/16***I love this thing...I still use it all the time and it's still in great shape! It boils water really fast so sometimes I use it just for that when I need to boil water for something.I've used it to boil eggs with out the basket and also like to steam them by placing them in the basket...I prefer to steam them in the basket because it makes it much easier to peel them! The downside to steaming them is that it can be tricky to get the timing right...usually about 16 minutes works for me and let it sit (with cover still on and off the stove) for about 3 minutes-but this can vary which makes it a bit tricky. The other "downside" is that it tends to crack the shell in the process of steaming--not every time and not every egg but it happens frequently. I've read before that supposedly when this happens, the shell was cracked before it was cooked just not visible...I'm no egg expert, though...I just know that I like steaming them and makes it a lot easier to peel!I also love to use it for making rice (I cook it in the pot without the basket). I personally feel like it cooks it better and faster...though, I'm used to cooking my rice on the stove and don't have a rice maker machine so I can't compare it to that. For broccoli, I get the water boiling first then put it in the basket. It steams really fast (and I tend to get distracted and can easily over steam it) so I usually set a timer for about 3 minutes and check on it to see if it's steamed the amount I want. For veggies like carrots I place in the basket and cover before I even turn on the heat- but even then, it still boils the water and steams pretty fast!I haven't had any problems with the handles getting hot, you do have to lift the lid (like on any other steamer) at an angle away from you otherwise it will be really hot but it has never been a problem for me.
