installation was easy if ones follows the DVD. Battery life was good for about 2 to 3 weeks, held charge for around 4 days with average use of the nook. Now 30 days later i am lucky to get two days of battery life with the same usage. The main reason I replace the original color nook battery was that it was not holding a charge for more then 2 days. Well this new battery is not much better. very disappointed with this product.I have tried contacting the seller but no reply at this time.Update on above review.Well I was wrong of the above review. I E-mailed the company and they replied with a set of simple instruction on recharging the battery. It worked, the battery went from a two day charge to almost five days of normal nook use. Very pleased with the results.

In March 2011 I bought a Nook Color and after all the years and much usage the battery finally became pretty lame. So I took the opportunity to buy the replacement kit during a trip to the U.S. in January 2015. The exchange was a bit fiddly, but it was worth the effort. So I thought at least before I noticed that the new battery was even weaker. In fact I have to recharge the battery now more often than before the replacement.Looking at the other customer comments I think, my case is just a rare exception, but for me that's not much of a solace. (Especially since I dumped the original battery in the U.S. and can't reinstall it now back in Europe.)

Doesn't seem to hold a charge very long. Also, not quite as easy to install as I expected. But-got it done!

This worked pretty much as advertised. From watching the video, I thought that separating and putting the contacts back together would be the most frustrating and longest part of the process, but for me it took a while to get all of the screws out (I had them unscrewed, but they wouldn't just fall out of the holes, so I had to sort of wiggle and pry them out with the prying took because they are so tiny I couldn't use my fingers). Also, as I was moving the Nook around to try to get the contacts apart, it kept turning on! As long as the left contact is still attached, it can turn on and apparently the on/off switch on my Nook is super sensitive to any pressure, so I kept having to wait for it to boot up, then shut it down, then keep working on separating the layers of the Nook and replacing the battery. It eventually ended up in two halves (the power button was just fitted into a slot, and once the two contacts were separated, that was the only thing bridging the half holding the battery and the half with the screen). Like another reviewer noted, some Nook batteries are taped underneath with strong double-stick tape. Mine was one of those. There were two horizontal strips of the stuff, so I was using the screwdriver to hold the battery up while I kind of sliced at the sticky stuff with the prying tool. The old battery got pretty bent up at the edges -- I thought that I was going to keep it in case I needed it in a pinch, but that is not possible. It was kind of fortunate that the Nook came completely apart into the two halves, because I could work at the taped-down battery without endangering the screen. Hopefully NewPower99 will keep making these kits for years to come. As long as you know that the contacts pull up and click back down into place, that part is easy -- the prying tool is great for pressing those tiny things into their holders. If you haven't taken apart any of your electronics before, you may want to hand the kit to someone who has. While the process overall just takes patience and great care, it could be a little intimidating or nerve-wracking if you haven't opened something up before -- and there is, of course, a real chance of messing up the device, so you have to keep that in mind... Before I used the kit, my Nook was loosing a lot of battery life when I wasn't even using it... I got about 2 hours reading time a day and then had to charge it every 24 hours to the battery alive. Now it is holding power a lot better and is lasting a lot longer than before... so it definitely feels refreshed. According to the stickers inside, my Nook is about 3.5 years old.

All negative stars are because (1). the battery is smaller (2). its only 3200mAh not 4000mAh like OEM. (3.) Battery life is slightly lower. Well, you find me an OEM battery NOT from the manufactorer ($80 dollars) that is set at this price buy it. But THERE ISN'T one! So my review. OUTSTANDING. DVD was easy to follow. Literally took me 10 minutes to fix my Nook Color. Now my issue was the battery wouldn't hold a charge (3 years old duh) and go figure the Nook Cable (my 4th one) no longer worked. So this is a review for those troubleshooting why their Nook Color is Acting retarded.1. The Nook Cable is "special". It is a 12 pin micro hdmi cable that dumps a rapid charge into the battery. All your other micro hdmi cables (smartphone, tablets, so on) are ONLY 5 pin. Why more pins? well it charges faster with MORE mAh's silly.2. Issue. People push and throw and disturb the cable while its charging. Causing the pins to break or arc causing cable failure.3. ANY micro hdmi cable will charge the Nook Color, but the tablet won't register it's charging as these charges "trickle" charge the tablet much slower. (same result just takes longer)4. My particular situation I had to do TWO steps to get my Nook Color back to life. (after installation of my battery, not everyone's story is the same as mine, but this is WORST case scenerio and this is for my particular issue as my wife did a factory reset and the "old" battery died during install of factory software, bad, very bad)FIRST. I had to trick Nook into an 8 failed start situation. I repeatedly had to turn the nook on and off 8 times to make it know there is a "boot" issue. Nook goes into a "software update" mode to repair.SECOND. After software update repair, I had to "factory reset" the Nook to OEM. Immediately after "software update" had finished it reboots. HOLD the POWER button and the "N" button at the same time for 10 or so seconds..release after the beginning message disappears. "reading if forever or whatever it says at the beginning". A yellow screen jumps up and it does the "factory reset"...Final note. Im not a NASA engineer. I'm just trying to let people know YOU CAN REPAIR YOUR NOOK IF ITS WON'T CHARGE OR BOOT UP. This is 9 out of 10 reasons a NEW battery is needed. The 1 out of 10 reason is exactly why Barnes and Noble will no longer be making e-readers and their Nook HD+ line will be the end of their run as an e-reader provider. I loved my Nook and in 5 years when batteries are no longer available I'm going to have to get a Kindle :(
