this ONLY attaches on top of a stud and its 1/8" thick where it attaches...that bows out the sheetrock. Also, i put the front "snap together" piece on wrong and when I took it off to reverse it, the plastic became stretched and had to epoxy it to prevent future problems. it does work

It works as a replacement for the older Nutone 120 volt powered inlets but it does does look the same as the older ones. The lid seems more flimsy compared to the older version. The instructions are not good. For example they do not tell you how to remove the mounting bracket from the inlet.

Works well after some minor pvc pipe changes due to my old system was probably as old as my 1970 home and brittle.

I bought a couple of those kits that included 3 inlets and various bits to install a Nutone whole house vacuum system - there's a lot of convenience in the kits however the inlets are made very cheaply - of the 6 the I bought 5 have failed - mostly due to either the spring (that holds the cover closed) or the plastic bit that holds the spring. When the inlets fail you lose suction so this is not a good thing. So I purchased these replacements from Amazon - these appear to be much better made (the earlier were also made in China as are these but the materials are heavier and the bits seem more robust). I'll report if and when these replacements fail but for now these seem to be of excellent quality.
