Your cart is empty.The new Delta 5 is the next step in a long line of remarkably reliable, durable and smoothly breathing regulators to carry that name. Sure, Oceanic gave it an updated look, but that's not all. Like the Delta's before it, the 5 comes standard with Oceanic's patented Dynamic Adjustment Technology, dive/pre-dive controls and a super comfortable orthodontic mouthpiece. Unlike its predecessors, the new Delta 5 has an all metal pneumatic valve, providing super smooth breathing performance in any condition. Oceanic has also added a heat exchanger, positioned on the hose connection to the 2'nd stage, to further increase it's already stellar cold water performance. The Delta 5 takes this comfort even further with an orthodontic mouthpiece designed to accommodate the natural overbite of the human jaw.The second stage is lightweight and has a 2.5" (6.35cm) diameter front profile making it one of the most compact designs on the market. The second stage regulator has a dual adjustability with its dive/pre-dive venturi lever to help prevent regulator free-flow while entering the water through surf or jumping off the back of a boat. In addition the dynamic airflow adjustment knob allows the diver to fine tune the regulators breathing resistance during the dive for precise control of air flow to the second-stage regulator.

The ad for this 2nd stage regulator indicated it was, indeed, just the 2nd stage. I purchased this because of the awesome reviews it got through a professional dive testing organization, and paired it with the Sherwood Blizzard 1st stage I got back in the 1980s. The Sherwood's 2nd stage was starting to look its age, but it still works like new. (I keep it as a spare). The Sherwood Blizzard's 1st stage is an environmentally sealed balanced piston design, and works perfectly with this Oceanic Delta 5 2nd stage. The Delta 5 2nd stage is smaller, lighter, and much more modern looking than my Blizzard, but, more importantly, it's an adjustable design that can be dialed back at the surface to prevent free flow, although even set wide open, the Delta 5 performed flawlessly without free flowing. Getting an adjustable 2nd stage at this price that works this well is a real steal!At depth, the Delta 5 delivers adequate air on demand in any situation I've needed it, and does so while staying dry.My only knock on the Delta 5 is the mouthpiece. While it's comfortable in the mouth without digging into my gums, I find that it's a bit too small and soft, often requiring me to bite down hard on it when turning my head to keep from losing my grip on it. The mouthpiece on my Poseidon Jetstream is much, much better in this regard, and I'll eventually replace the Delta 5's mouthpiece with a larger one.UPDATE...With the stay-at-home order now almost totally lifted here in Florida, I have been able to get back in the water with this regulator. I am now using it on the Oceanic FDXi 1st stage (see links below) and using a larger mouthpiece with it. The Delta 5 on the FDXi first stage is a match made in heaven, offering better performance than my much older Sherwood Blizzard regulator. I am using the Blizzard second stage as my onto now, and when I switch back and forth between my Delta 5 main and Blizzard October, the difference is night and day.
