The aluminum body makes this a higher quality product over the OEM distributor which uses a plastic body. The only complaint with this product is that in order to properly install, the cap and rotor must come off the unit which damages a warranty seal and therefore voids the warranty. If you’re not worried about a warranty, this is a high quality product.

Used on my 1997 with 7.4 vortec. Good replacement I was definitely skeptical before I bought but I'm glad I took the chance. Still going strong 15k later.

Its metal which makes it better than the factory plastic one. Mine was fine, but I worried about it breaking in the future and having to pluck the broken pieces out when an injector or regulator fails again. The screws for the cap and rotor are terribly cheap, they strip out quickly. The gear oil pump relationship is a tooth off so it you pull your stock one out and stick this in it will be a little off. It has a lot of slop, a good half inch side to side when installed. But so does the original. I remember back before computers there was very little side to side slack on a distributor. Im guessing this is a direct copy of the plastic one. The centering bore should be cast larger. This is gonna make the gear wear a potential problem, no fun since the cam is expensive and a lot of work to swap out. I put a dial indicator on the side and tightened it down midway through the slack to try and get the gear aligned. This measurement ended up being a waste of time since I had to run a scan and set the cam retard, because of the tooth being off.

Installed this and the quality is much better than I expected. Found that the cap that I had wasn't properly drilled for the mounting screws. It included a brand new cam sensor, cap and top quality rotor. Still can't believe the quality. I will review later only if there are problems with it.
