This pierced plastic piece makes quickly cleaning filter after use a minimal task. Have not noticed any loss of suction power.

The old filter in my Black and Decker hand vac was falling apart. While I could have bought replacement filters for less, the reason why I purchased this one was because of the pre-filter filter which protects the paper filter from getting tattered.When the package arrived, I was pleased to find they had included the plastic housing which holds the pre-filter. Out with the old, in with the new and I was back in business in minutes. Today we put the hand vac in the torture chamber sucking up the remains of 2 loads of shredded paper. Not a problem!. Emptied the canister, removed the pre-filter to check the paper filter and found only tiny bits of paper able to get through the pre-filter. Shook those off, rinsed the pre-filter and I'm ready to knock out the next minor job that needs to get done. I highly recommend.

This is a perfect replacement for our vacuum filter. My husband accidentally threw away this part and that it why we needed a replacement - not because the original broke. It fit with ease and I didn’t notice any issues or changes with how our vacuum functioned. Will buy again if needed!
