Like others the old one was damaged with the removal of my Ujoints. I didn't have to use any heat at all - just a blunt chizzle on each side of the ring resting on the outer fork of the axle shaft. Spent about 3 min doing two hits per side and came right off. Helpful to soak with PB blaster first. To get new one on I didn't have a brass hammer so I used a block of cedar and again did two hits per side until it seated properly. Great replacement part to save buying a new axle shaft. Just a note the spicer/dorman replacements are cheaper. You can find the oem part number on the Omix-Ada website and search those out from there.

After destroying mine while changing U-Joints this was a must have. Cut a slot in the old one and split it off with a chisel. Heat the new one and gently tap it on. No need to remove U-joints to put this on must take out the axle shaft though

Despite how it reads, this does fit axle half-shafts for the Dana 30 axle. I replaced the damaged tone ring on my 2000 XJ with zero issues.Heat the old one to get it off, and apply some grease to the new one before tapping it on with a hammer. You should clean up the half-shaft with a wire wheel before installation.

If your buying one of these chances are you broke it changing out your U joint. This is what you need. Use a cut off wheel to easily remove. Just be careful mine "popped" before I cut thru. To install....clean axle with wire brush followed by emery cloth. Once clean heat ring til it starts to change color no need to get it red just a bluish ting. Mine "fell" on. No press needed. I tapped it with a brass hammer but it wasn't needed it seated perfectly when it fell on. It shrinks once cooled. Don't quench.

Worked great on a 2000 Cherokee. cracked off the old damaged tone ring with a chisel, cleaned off the rust and used a bench press and old tone ring to press in the new one. Took under an hour without rushing.

Fits like it should and wasn't too bad putting on. If you've broken one while doing the u-joints, you need to press it off. The new one presses on pretty easy. You will need a press though. I don't recommend trying to use a vise.
