The best-selling Bulldog combo series U-locks offer the same level of security as Bulldog keyed locks, but with the convenience of not having to carry a key. This U-lock offers excellent security with the X2P Double Bolt Locking Mechanism, which locks the shackle on both sides. The 13mm hardened steel shackle resists cutting, prying, and jacking, and the double rubber-coated crossbar cover protects paint and finishes. This lock includes an all-tube mounting bracket.

The cable is nice and thick and coated. The lock itself is very robust. I have a couple of these units that I use while camping to lock up my grill and other valuables in camp. Also, use it to lock up my trailer and UTV when stored. My only complaint is that when you take the lock apart, it is not very apparent which way it is supposed to go back together. You end up trying a couple time to get it locked. Other than that I would highly recommend!

I've been using this lock a couple days a week for two years in a big US city, including the last 6 months on a nice bike that I bought new. It seems very solid and secure and no one has messed with the lock. It's also pretty convenient to carry around on the bike frame, which makes me much more likely to have it and use it. It has given me a few consistent frustrations, though:1) In most cases I'm able to use the U lock to lock my frame and front wheel to a bike ring. It's not wide enough to lock my frame and back wheel with the U lock, and day-to-day I don't usually bother to carry the included cable to lock the second wheel. On a normal bike ring it's usually a tight fit to lock both the frame and front wheel--for security this is a good thing, but for convenience of getting the lock on it's a pain. If I try to lock to something unusual like a street sign or fence I often have to lock just the frame.2) Because it's usually such a tight fit to get the lock on, the rubber coating on the U became a shredded mess soon after I started using the lock. The lock works fine, but it looks bad and sheds a bit.3) The lock is really convenient to carry on the bike frame with the included clip, but the clip is made from a soft plastic that keeps cracking and breaking when I lever the lock into the mechanism. OnGuard has sent me 2 replacement clips in two years and I'm about to request a third because the latest one just broke.4) As other reviewers noted, occasionally when the lock is on with a tight fit it's hard to press the release after dialing in your combination. Hasn't been a big deal, just need to play with the fit a bit and try again.

Takes superhuman thumb strength to open the lock, which is especially unfortunate since I bought this for my kids to use. I liked that it's not a toy lock like those cable ones typically made for kids and easy cut with a pair of pliers. The whole benefit of a combo lock is that multiple people can share it without all needing keys. Perfect for a family. Except that they cannot generate the pressure needed to open it. It's troublesome for me, an athletic man. Especially troublesome when the lock is at an awkward angle down where you would typically lock it. Just try bending over, reaching out and turning your wrist over to get at that pesky button, then trying to exert force with your thumb. Ugh.

I hate carrying keys, keys always find a way to poke me with a sharp end or starch my electronics or get lost, .... this lock is keyless, so awsome, secure, well made, convenient, and beautiful, works well, installs on the bicycle which the included hardware and easily and securely attached/detaches from the bicycle mount. my bike has not been stolen yet so it must be working fine. :)

So, like other reviewers would say... It's really difficult to actually rate a cycle lock unless you actually witness someone on CCTV trying to pick and dig at your lock... However, that being said, this lock looks the part - The yellow and black signifies "don't mess with me" and seems to be an effective deterrent to potential thieves.I was skeptical about buying a lock with a combination system as I've read online how easy these are to pick... However, this lock doesn't suffer the same flaws of 'gaps' between numbers... So if that is your worry - Then put your mind at rest knowing that the combination system is SO much more convenient than carrying around a set of keys.In terms of the way the lock opens up... it latches open from one end then easily comes off the other end which has a 'curved' insert... Seems much easier and convenient to lock in difficult positions. The cable it comes with is long enough to carry around without it going all over the place... But it's quite difficult to position it around your front wheel...Now the most IMPORTANT part... For me, it was trying to find a lock that will come with a DECENT mount! - And On-Guard have ticked all the boxes in getting this right... It seems strong and sturdy, has a rubber piece to grip to the bike which won't leave horrible marks that plastic ones do... is EXTREMELY easy to fit and the lock can mount literally anywhere to your bike and stays in place! I bought a 'Masterlock' before, and it was terrible... As is the ABUS holders in my experience. I'm also neither a fan of the flimsy piece of strap that comes with Kryptonite locks... Yes, I've played around with many locks until I found this one!I'm slightly concerned that there's no 'SOLD SECURE' rating, it would have been nice if it has... or if it does, then I can't understand why it's not advertised on the lock, but having checked the sold secure website, this model doesn't appear to be on there. All in all... Just had it a day so far, but seems perfect:- Great mount- Excellently convenient combination system as opposed to keys- Very sturdy and looks great too- Mounts to a bike and leaves space for a bottle cage... You can mount it on the back, on the side, wherever!- Great value for moneyBuy it, you'll love it.

I have buyers remorse. This is a high quality product. I purchased it for my son who headed off to college. This lock appears to be very strong, sturdy, and well made. But it is heavy and not easy to transport. Yes it has a clip to carry it on the bike but not a very easy way to carry it. It has become a hassle for him to use so he has not been using it much. Not good. In hind sight I would have purchased a "less safe" lock but one that was easier for a college kid to use. Maybe just a cable with a built in combination lock without the heavy "U" lock.

The combo lock is easy to use. The dials seem to move fluidly. Setting the combo was simple. The bike mount is useless due to the type of frame I have. I have no way to actually mount this to the bike without the lock being in the way of something. Seems sturdy enough. The extra cable is long enough to lock 2 bikes.

I purchased this for my girlfriend when she started biking regularly, it seems like just an updated version of one I've had for a long time. Very sturdy, the only complaint I can think of is for some bikes it's a little small, but we've rarely had problems locking up. The cable is very, very handy to have for wrapping around your back tire or frame, especially if whatever you're locking to isn't very accommodating. The entire thing is covered in a soft material so no worries about scratching your paint. As for the combo, that's really why I buy these locks. I've heard stories of keys being duplicates, breaking, getting lost, being easy to defeat, etc. I don't really worry about any of this with a combo lock. I do find myself wondering if anyone could watch me lock/unlock and learn my combo, but up until now neither my girlfriend or I has had that problem. We actually set the same pin for our locks so we can switch or retrieve one another's bike in an emergency. Yes someone could cut through it, but that's true of any lock if the thief wants it bad enough.
