Tips
1 Please heat without connecting probe if the accurate temperature control of the liquid is not required ,without probe the hotplate will heat at large power, but when connecting the probe, the hotplate will reduce the power for accurate temperature control
2 There are some ways to speed up the heating time when connecting the probe, these ways are used by a lot of laboratory
a. Put a lid on the beaker.
b. Wrap the beaker with some heat insulation cotton

Subsequent to the previous reported problem with the original purchase the vendor sorted out the problem and has followed through with a new hot plate to replace the problem. We are very happy with the stirrer and sturdy stand and the paddles purchased recently. We plan to purchase more items from this vendor in the future due to their professionalism in dealing with the problem.

This hotplate is great for heating and stirring reagents. The external probe is incredibly useful. Great customer service as well.

I have used this for some distillation but nothing requiring lots of heat. The temperature probe doesn't seem to work. I haven't connected to a PC to try to control that way.

Will not take solution above 240 , no matter which one you purchase .I’m guessing you have to use a double boil method & use an oil to bath solution to achieve higher temps .I also feel you might be able to cover solution with larger beaker , but then you won’t be able to accurately monitor you will not be able to use temp probe or digital thermometer due the wires , rod & common sense.
