Rubber packing is used for all conceivable points where water, dust or bugs may penetrate, such as wiring holes, wire ports and the outer chassis. Preventing these factors helps deliver performance with higher reliability in severe outdoor environmental condition. In addition, the length between the upper and lower optics, and the width of the optics are ideally engineered to produce the most intelligent detection pattern which reduces false alarms by detecting human intruders only.

I have had these for 9 years. Works like a charm. Detects people, wild turkeys and cars with beam set at 3' off the ground about 70 feet apart. Bit of a pain to align, but only had to do it once. Hooked to 12V system and set with normally closed contacts. Ignores heavy snow and rain. Double beam even allows it to ignore small birds flying through.
