Your cart is empty.For stargazers, the phrase "as the world turns" means that celestial objects will drift out of your telescope's field of view - due to the Earth's rotation. But with the Orion TD-2 Electronic 12V DC Tracking Drive, your target object will remain centered in the eyepiece for as long as you want to observe it. Compatible with the Orion EQ-13 Equatorial Mount and telescopes that include the EQ-13 (see list below), the TD-2 Electronic Drive installs quickly on the equatorial mount. The drive's precision motor provides sidereal-rate tracking in right ascension, which is the rate that stars and deep-sky objects move across the sky. The included hand controller has forward and reverse slewing buttons at 2x and 4x speeds to facilitate centering objects in the telescope's eyepiece or moving to other, nearby objects. A simple thumbscrew "clutch" disengages the tracking motor from the right ascension gear, allowing use of the mount's manual slow-motion controls, when desired. A switch on the hand controller lets you set it for Northern or Southern hemisphere; it works in both. A convenient holding bracket for the hand controller is included and straps onto a tripod leg via a hook-and-loop band. Just set the controller in the holder when you're not using it. The TD-2 runs on eight 1.5V AA batteries (not included), which the user installs in the battery case provided. Somebody asked for pictures -That's an example of what I was able to achieve. Orion 6" F/5 Newtonian, Canon 50D, exposure 15 seconds. Tracking quality is barely acceptable, the main source of error, in my understanding, is polar axis misalignment.

The thing blew up in my hands and had to return it. It felt like cheap plastic and the play on the buttons was insane. it felt light hollow and cheap. like some kids toy and the fact it costs 70 bucks is shocking. I cant review its tracking ability, but for 70$ this is more of a scam than anything

It needs 12vdc power source. The item includes a power pack that uses 8 AA batteries. Power switches on drive and power pack. Driver has 2x and 4x speeds but that is still slow. After celestial object is sighted in, it track well.

I put this on my Orion SpaceProbe 130eq works great, easy instal and set up tracks very nicely would recommend the DC power adapter for this to keep it running for hours the 8 AAA batteries in the cold Temps may suffer a bit but highly recommend this unit.

As advertised, it fit perfectly on my EQ-13 equatorial mount and it was easy to install. Once the mount is polar aligned and the scope is pointed at a target, turn the drive on and its tracking is rock solid. The mount's RA slow-motion knob can be used to tweak the view while the motor continues to rotate the declination. This is a great product that is easy to use and has a very reasonable price tag.
