Man sollte sie aber auf einem Mono-Tonkopf berwenden, da die meisten 78er Platten mono sind und es mit einem Stereotonkopf doch zu sehr rauscht.

The seller (initials LU) labeled the product incorrectly and that resulted in some damage to a collectors item 78.If you are considering buying this item that means you have some old 78s that you want to play - probably to burn to CDs so you don't have to put more wear on your old records. The Ortofon Stylus 78 is a good choice for that. However, the seller took an Ortofon 5E, put a Stylus 78 sticker on the box and shipped that to me. The 5E should cost about half what I paid for what I thought was a 78.The 5E is an elliptical stylus and will damage your 78s because it is too thin and sharp to be riding in the grooves of the old 78s - which is why Ortofon makes a special stylus for old records. The Stylus 78 is spherical and wider.I saw the "Stylus 78" label on the box and put the stylus into my player without noticing the error. I then played my most treasured 78 - and it sounded ok, but not quite right. I was more than a little ticked when I noticed another sticker on the box that said 5E. I pulled the stylus and sure enough, it was a 5E. Don't I wish I had looked closer before using it.An innocent mistake I hope, or not perhaps, who knows - The Stylus 78 is about twice the price for a 5E."LU", if you are reading this, there is no way to make it right. The damage is done. I did find a Stylus 78 for sale and ordered it (for less money). Yours is on its way back to you.

Great stylus — enables the playing of 78 rpm shellac discs on modern turntables. My only regret is that unlike my first 78 stylus, the second one came packaged in expanded polystyrene cube rather than a plastic container with a transparent cover —all the better for secure storage when not in use.

Buena aguja. Mejora mucho la audición en discos de 78rpm. Si dispones de un amplificador que tenga conmutador estereo/mono, la cosa mejora mucho en monaural. Altamente recomendada para aprovechar una capsula concorde.

I needed a 78 needle to digitize some acetate records from the late 50's. These were 33 1/3 rpm records but a notation on a record cover said to use a 78 needle. The only guidance I found on the net about using a 78 needle on an acetate record spinning at 33 1/3 was that it would be OK to use a 33 1/3 stylus tracking at less than 3 grams. I tried that and it sounded terrible, like the needle was dragging at the bottom of the groove. The conically-shaped Ortofon Stylus 78 stylus, tracking at 2 1/4 grams, produced good sound for this project.
