The nude fine line tip of the 30 makes for a much nicer sound than the 10 and 20, and with less surface noise. The 40 is a little better, but requires pristine vinyl. The 30 is kind to worn vinyl as well.

This stylus is a HUGE upgrade to the OM-10. No distortion, no sibilance, just clean sound.

I acknowledge that when it comes to phono cartridges the sound produced is very subjective and each person has different expectations and likes. I have been using a Shure V15vmr cartridge that i purchased many years ago. The stylus is a Jico SAS and it sounds very good. Several months ago I bought a turntable that came with an Ortofon OM10 cartridge which I replaced with my Shure. Although the Shure sounded good I wanted to see what else might be an improvement. I bought the OM30 to replace the OM10 and was very happy that this change gave me improved detail and clarity across the spectrum as well as, for lack of a better description, a sweeter easier listening sound than I had with the V15. I have a few hundred record albums and what I have played thus far, sound much better with the Ortofon. I have only several hours of listening and it is not yet broken in so I am anticipating an even greater improvement. In short this cartridge is amazing.

The Ortofon OM30 is a significant upgrade to an OM10. Stylus fits in any OM cartridge. Fabulous clear detailed sound, crisp highs and solid bass. No disappointments! Best improvement one can make to a vintage turntable and stereo system.

I use the stylus on to different cartridges. I use it on an old Ortofon Concorde which is standard mount and a Ortofon OMP 10 which is P-nount. The big plus with is stylus it just sounds wonderful and tracks like a champ.

I got the Ortofon OM30 as an upgrade from an entry level OM5 (may he rest in quiet). The improvement became obvious when I played a song (by Sad Night Dynamite) in which bass that had been a steady rumble with the OM5, sounded musical and exciting. The OM30 pulled the low end out of the mud and gave it the clarity I'd been hoping for. In addition, there were beds of sounds that had either been too subtle to notice when played with the OM5 or that just hadn't been there at all. The OM30 upgrade pulled these sounds off the vinyl and into the music where they belong.I will add however that with certain dance tracks that utilize a lot of cymbals/high hats, the top end may be a little fatiguing. While some listeners will enjoy these articulate highs, I had to give them a rest. While I generally don't change it, adjusting the treble in this case brings back the magic.

It’s a great upgrade for my U Turn turntable. I started with a 5e stylus and also used a 20 stylus and noticed an improvement from both. If you are upgrading from OM5e make sure to check your vertical tracking force as you may need to adjust your tracking weight a little
