Firstly the mandolin is nice. Honestly plays well, sounds warm and pleasant. Not "tinny" and this is unusual for laminates. Nut was cut right. (bridge adjustment was necessary however which is not difficult.) Finish is smooth and blemish free. I have a couple other mandolins (2 cheap ones... and one very... good one) and this tops the other inexpensive ones and honestly, nearly matches the quality mando I own and play daily as far as tonal quality and depth. This unit is Not solid wood. It's laminate (even the top which is stated to be "select spruce") which... is to be expected in this price range. Packaging was rough. Box was thin and the headstock tip poked through the inner instrument box but by miraculous good fortune and blessings... did not break. The end pin had poked through the bottom as well.. and was not broken. *another miracle... Then to package the instrument for delivery, Amazon threw it in a bigger box that allowed this thing to fly around inside. Padding was.... a strip of brown paper! LoL!!! . Box was open on top (one strip of tape all loose) when arrived. Crazy it made it. This was a gift for my wife. We enjoy playing music together so I am truly grateful it arrived "safely?!? Bottome line, Mando worth the price in my case.... packing did not meet what I'd consider anywhere close to acceptable but it's here, plays well and not sending it back. Woot!! Play on!
