My husband and I like to day hike. We switched from backpacks to fanny packs many years ago. I don't think my husband ever had a fanny pack that stayed around his waist until now. The Osprey Talon 6 does. Took awhile to make room for all of the stuff he likes to carry and to find good water bottles that fit. The holders are easily accessible. The bottles slide in and out while wearing the fanny pack, but don't fall out. The belt pockets are nice. The waistband is comfortable as is the back padding. And the blue color is beautiful.

I was interested in getting this for bike rides and short hikes where I didn't want to wear a backpack. After testing this out on a 4-mile hike I can say it was nice to have. I put a water bottle in one of the side pockets, and my phone, wallet, keys and some other loose items in the main compartment. It was easy to reach around and remove the bottle and put it back when I was done. The buckles hold their place with no slippage and are easy to loosen/tighten to your liking. One other benefit I noticed while wearing this is I was more aware of my posture. I felt like it makes you stand straighter and use your core correctly. I don't know, maybe that's just me haha. Anyway, I think this is a good alternative to a backpack allowing you enough room to store a few items you want to keep on you for bike rides or day hikes. It's made of good materials that you can expect to last.

Like every Osprey product I own, this one is obviously made with quality materials. The fabric is clearly durable, which is a good trait for an item that's supposed to accompany the user out into areas that are likely to be wooded or otherwise potentially harsh environmental factors. I like the integrated water bottle holders, and that fact that they include bungees to keep the bottles from falling out. The front compression straps are also nice for locking down the pack if overstuffed, or for keeping small items secure or allowing wet items to dry in the air. Unfortunately the main compartment is just one big cavern. I feel like Osprey could've at least added a couple of small pockets with velcro or zippers to make better use of the space. I usually like to keep things like an ID card or important papers in inside pockets. I know this waist pack has two smaller "lumbar" pockets on the sides, but these outer pockets are prone to moisture (if raining) and potential lost items because they're used more frequently. I also think of these two strap pockets as more quick access, like for snacks, phone, etc. Speaking of which, my large iPhone max fits in the side/strap pockets. Overall, I recommend this item for hiking and general travel. It's a little too heavy for use as a running bag, but would be great for other purposes. Osprey makes great products.

When I'm doing a simple day hike I prefer to not wear a backpack because it interferes with a sling-style hands free leash I use with my dog. This sometimes means that I end up not having things I'd otherwise want to carry (snacks, rain jacket, etc.) This day pack is a great solution for my needs. On the positives, I really like the size and build quality of the pack. The main compartment is large enough for me to store both a rain jacket and plenty of snacks. There is a secondary compartment attached to the main that is a perfect for a wallet and even has a hook to attach a set of keys. In addition to those two compartments, there is also a sizable compartment built into each of the side straps. Unlike other bags I have from Osprey where these strap compartments are too small to hold a phone, these ones can handle my large iPhone 16Pro Max in a bulky case. More snacks or other gear can fit inside these as well. The fit is comfortable for the pack and I think the lumbar suspension does help with heat buildup. The one negative I'll call out is that the water bottle pockets are just a little too small for some of my larger bottles. My 36oz stainless steel rambler fits fine, but the same brand/style in 46oz won't. It's close so maybe it would stretch enough with some use, but I'd be afraid of potentially popping a seam so I'll just stick with the smaller bottle. If I could deduct a half star for this I would, but since I I feel the bag is another pretty high quality Osprey design I'll round up to 5.

It's a nice waist pack. Maybe a little bit expensive. Also I really wish they would do a better job showing you examples of how you can use it to store things. There is this outer part where I guess maybe you're supposed to put an outer layer when you get hot, or whatever, but it's just not super clear to me. It's got a suprising amount of storage for a waste pack. I can fit everything I would normally carry in my backpack, and with this I don't have the weight on my shoulders which aggravates my neck. The side pockets are easily big enough for a phone.

Number one...it is an Osprey and you expect it to be above and beyond in quality, materials, and design. Yep to all of that. This pack snuggles right up to your back and supports you thru the day and makes your lower back fell better at the end. My simple advice is if you are looking, buy it, you will not be disappointed.

There are about four or five hikes throughout the year where I need a pack like this. Up until now, I've been using a knock-off brand pack that has all the room I need, but I feel embarrassed when I see people on the trail because it's like someone noticing that your michael korrs bag was purchased on the street and the label says "Michael Carrs."This pack is the real deal. I'm a big fan of Osprey packs, and this is my fourth one. It's got plenty of room, including the outside straps that could fit a helmet if needed, in easy to use straps. The rest of the bag is comfortable when worn, and can be adjusted on the fly with ease. What I like about the pack the most is that I can put my trekking poles on it easily, and the side pockets on the waist band are easy to use and easy to get to.Plus, the thing is black with some cool accents, so it's bringing a taste of style to the trail as well.
