If you are timing a 4.6L DOHC engine don't let ego keep you from buying this tool. Sure the job can be done without it but this tool is cheap insurance. Be advised that many aftermarket cam manufacturers do not have provisions on the back of the cams to use the locking tools. You can still use the crank tool and the holding tool to torque the primary and secondary gear bolts.

Worked as designed and does the same thing as the OEM Ford Rotunda tool. My only complaint is that they need to include TWO of the camshaft clamps in the kit. Yes it would cost a little bit more but the 2nd clamp is necessary when replacing the chains. The two camshaft indexed locking bars are almost worthless and really more of a pain then they are a help. It is very difficult to get these bars indexed into the cams at the back of the engine up against the firewall. And then after you get them indexed in getting them back out of the cams with the chains on is another challenge.

The only way to do timing chains on a DOHC motor.

Worked perfect for locking the cam in place on my son's V-8 32 valve Mustang engine. It has 2 sets of heads so we had to buy 2 kits. Maybe I'll sell them to the local auto store for their tool loaner program when we're done, because I don't plan on doing this again! They're well made and heavy duty.
