We liked it until the slide keeps sliding down the pendulum after 3 months of use. For example, if it is set to be 120, it would slide down to 132 after just a couple of minutes. My daughter cannot even finish one song before it slides down. We basically cannot use anymore. It is too expensive for 3 months of use.

This works perfectly and is beautiful. I’m so glad I got it. I bought it for my fiancé who is also a musician, but he didn’t use it so he’s always rushing the tempo. He broke up with me, I kept the metronome, and now everything is more reliable. Haha

I do not understand the glowing reviews for this.. It does not have what I would have expected in terms of quality. The base is made of plastic and it has three plastic feet that are rounded on the bottom.. I cant imagine setting this on an expensive piano for fear that it would scratch the surface.. Hard plastic feet that are not even flat? are you kidding me? In my opinion it is probably simply a repackaged version of their less expensive units.. The only difference being the wood outside part. It has no weight to it (just 1lb 1oz).. I wanted a German classic, I got what seems like a knock off yet it says it is made in Germany? and the bottom is not even *designed* well.. It should at the very least have had felt on the the bottom of its feet so it doesn't scratch what it is sitting on. The manufacturers box that this came in had zero padding.. It was just thrown into a box at their plant. No fitted foam or anything, again, I can hardly believe that this is the way a high end metronome would be sold.. But a knock off? maybe...I should mention that the unit does works well.

When I was a teenager, 40 years ago, my friend had a Wittner Metronome, it was a great tool to use and was well made. After reading many negative comments I went to a local music store to examine the quality that many claim had serverly diminished over the years. Of course the store had it on sale from $275 marked down to $235 and would not come down. I don't mind paying more to support local business but $100 plus is a little much. Anyway, the unit I examined and receive is SOLID WOOD, not a laminate or faux wood. The unit is lighter than what I remember 40 years ago but 40 years is a full generation ago. Advances in metal alloys being stronger and lighter has to be considered as well as advances in polymers i.e. plastics that are stronger with dependable and extended mtbf. So while at first handling it seems cheaply made compared with models from 40 years ago, I have found this not to be the case. It is well made and accurate. Definitely well worth the price.

Looks nice, and works just fine. I like this traditional metronome with a bell...I hear it better than any of the digital metronomes I have.

My son LOVES this metronome. He uses it to practice violin. He found his electronic metronome shrill and would turn it off saying it bothered his ears. Metronome software is ok, but has too many options and can distract from practice. This is simple, elegant, and has a pleasing sound. The visual of the pendulum is soothing and is a good secondary timing cue. We don't use the bell as much as I thought we would, but it works well also. Unlike some of the reviews I read before purchasing, we do actually notice a small time lag creep in just before the wind runs down, but we both don't mind - it lets us know we will have to wind soon. Best of all, metronome practice is now an enthusiastic endeavor!
