Just like it said, I plugged it into my USB port on my car, turned the car on, opened my phone to my bluetooth, connected to the name listed in the instructions, and done. I had one already, so I pretty much knew what to expect. However, despite the hype, I don't see this one as any faster connecting than my previous one. But it works, and that's what counts. In case of someone else with an Ionic 5 or similar... only one port works for this, which is the front USB A. Sad thing is that port can get energized randomly when the car is off, causing annoying phone alerts. Fix for this is to get a USB power blocker, a cigarette lighter socket adapter with USB port(s), and a USB Y connector (2 males to one female). Plug the power blocker into the front USB port. Plug the Y connector males into the power blocker and the lighter socket USB. Plug the wireless adapter into the female of the Y connector. Works great.

My new truck came Apple Car Play ready, but I had to have it thru a cable to my iPhone. I wanted a wireless connection so I first bought a $20 version of this OTTOCAST CG-US-AL-CA505-T1-Black. The cheaper version works great... until it doesn't. My $20 gizmo forgets the connection on a pretty regular basis and I have to do the initial set up all over again. And what's worse is that when it needs to be connected, the message instanly appears on your car's screen and stays on the screen until you disconnect the device. This happened to me one time while I was using Google Maps in heavy traffic and Google Maps just dissapeared and this stupid reconnect your device message appeared and I couldn't reconnect while driving. I wound up missing my exit and I was not happy. That episode prompted me to try this OTTOCAST and I must say it's worth the extra money. Set up took less than a minute and so far it hasn't dropped my connection, not even once. When I start my truck, Apple Car Play almost instantly appears. And you can hook it up either thru your car's USB port or any Type C connection. If this OTTOCAST starts dropping my connection I'll update this review, but so far it's been great.

The Ottocast Mini wireless adapter performs reliably with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, offering fast and seamless connectivity. Great compact design, but lacks multi-device controls.Positives:Strong compatibility: Works well with both Android Auto and CarPlay (tested on 2018 Chrysler Pacifica).Quick connection: Often connects before the car is fully on.Compact size: Small design helps avoid accidental bumps.Included accessories: Angle adapters may be useful for some car models.Negatives:Angle adapters didn’t fit: Included adapters weren’t compatible with this specific vehicle.Auto-connect can be inconvenient: Automatically connects when doors open, even for quick entry. No device management interface: Difficult to switch between multiple phones. An interface to manage connections would improve usability.

Ordered as a replacement for a lesser unit that died at 6 months. This plugged and worked within minutes after pairing with Bluetooth.Connected quickly on the next trip and thereafter.Works with all of the controls on my Acura ILS.Audio quality is good and response to controls is quick.Build quality seems good. It has a reset button which most units don't have. It also includes instructions to update the firmware. Lesser units are not upgradable like this.GOOD UNIT, if a more expensive alternative to many options on Amazon.

Took a couple of attempts to set up. However, once it was up and running it’s really excellent. Car play quickly comes to life with all of its features. Fully recommend. Not sure why the installation took several tries. Me? System synchronization? Not sure- but really like it.

I have tried a couple of these adapters, and this is by far the best one! I drive a 2020 Honda Accord that has had persistent Bluetooth connection issues (with or without an adapter), but so far this one has worked every time.It is important to note that different vehicles handle these adapters differently. An adapter from another brand that caused issues in my car works perfectly in a friend's car, and unfortunately there is no way to know without trying. But Ottocast seems to have developed a reputation for being one of the best companies for these adapters, and based on my experience, I would say that reputation is well deserved. If you have a car that does wired Carplay/Android Auto and you want to get rid of the cord, this is definitely the adapter that I would recommend trying first!

I have a 2024 Kia telluride. I have had several carplay dongles and have yet to find one that sets up correctly and repeatedly sets up after the vehicle has been switched off. All require re-pairing and this was no exception . I want a dongle that works. This one was set up as per manufacturers instructions and paired correctly . When I switched the vehicle off and back on , I had to deactivate my phones BT connection and then turn it back on and reconnect to the dongle. Too much of a hassle so I'm returning
