Being left-handed and owning a celebrity ovation for over 30 years, a right handed guitar restrung and try file down on the nut so the strings could stay on lol I decided to purchase authentic left-handed guitar immediately attracted to the ovations quality of course and the design this guitar does not disappoint at all The body is amazing solid the fret place so well so smooth the sound is so good. I love it. I got a shallow body, which is really nice if you’re left-handed and you like an authentic ovation sound acoustically I would definitely recommend this model.

It does what it does very well, and if you need an ovation to gig with..this is an ovation. It won’t sound like a Martin or a Lowden, but if you need a stage guitar that can take a beating, and sounds decent amplified, then this is it.

Plays excellent has a wonderful action. That’s what I expect from Ovation. They always deliver.

Was super excited when I got home and found that Ovation box. After unboxing and trying it out I was super disappointed, here’s why:1. Upon opening the box there was just the guitar and a plastic bag with the manuals, an Allen key and some inspection tags, no gig bag ( not even those cheap plastic or vinyl ones).2. The strings were untuned and after tuning would go out of tune with only a few strums.3. I used the guitars’ own on-board tuner and the tuner was way off. It’s sad that a FREE app on my phone was way more accurate.4. The tuning peg for the A string was loose, I had to give it a quarter turn before it would catch and affect the tension on the string.5. I played every fret on every string and there was very bad buzzing along with a few dead frets. Playing chords sounded like a horrible buzzy mess.6. The shape of the neck was not comfortable to me at all, the back of the neck almost comes to a point instead of being rounded and so I wasn’t able to rest my thumb comfortably.7. The guitar’s tone was quite thin nasal and trebbly. Didn’t try it plugged in so I don’t know how the onboard pickup sounds.For a company that advertises its guitars as being ready to play right out of the box this guitar needed a lot of work. A much needed setup, a recalibration or replacement of the onboard tuner and even some fret work would be necessary for this guitar to be ready to play. I’ve purchased guitars that were under $300.00 including the tax (MIM Fender Squire Strat that was on sale at $199 and a Kima classical guitar that was $99.00) that were far more ready to play and sounded better right out of the box than this Ovation. For $602.24 you COULD include a gig bag, even a cheap one Ovation.Conclusion:To me, the $ 602.24 paid was way more than the guitar in the condition I got it in was worth so I returned it. At this price the guitar should be fully set up and there should be absolutely no other work needed. I would expect to find the issues I found on this guitar on an instrument I’d find used in a swap meet for around $100 bucks. To be fair, the neck shape is a very personal thing and for some people that neck shape might be a dream to play on.
