Although the name Papier Mâché is French, the method was not adopted in France until the 17th century. The technique was originally used in the Orient as far back as 200 BC.

I love these boxes and have ordered more. I painted them blue and put a print of my artwork on top. I put shredded paper inside with a small mesh bag with sunflower seeds. I paint sunflowers, and sold these at a sunflower festival. People loved them and they are very cute. Boxes worked out very well.

These boxes are great size and adorable BUT.... they have a large barcode sticker on the bottom of them that’s impossle to get off and rips the box! I spent hours trying to get them off 😩

I looked for quite a while to find boxes that were this size to package my jewelry and I'm pretty happy with them. They are much sturdier than typical kraft boxes which is great for extra protection when mailing. The only complaint I have is that there are individual stickers with a barcode on the very bottom and it's easy to pull off some of the paper of the box when taking the sticker off. I don't feel that it's nessecary to have stickers on every single box when they come in a pack of 12. I was honestly a little bit disappointed when I first received this product because it looked really dull. It gave off the impression of cheap cardboard than kraft material. But I quickly got over it when I started to actually put it together the way I wanted to because the boxes themselves are quite sturdy and hold themselves well.I attached a few pictures, one to show how it came packaged (because that's one of the things I was most curious about when I was shopping for these). Someone mentioned in another review that they received different sized boxes (not 3x3), but I received 12 square boxes as listed. Each box has a barcode sticker attached to the bottom, but fortunately they peel off clean and easy.In the end I'm definitely satisfied with this product and will most likely purchase these again when I run out!

I am very happy with this purchase. The boxes seem to be good quality – corners squared and lids fit – unlike some that I have purchased in local craft stores, which often seem a bit squashed and dented. Darice used to make these in a slightly smaller size (2.5 inches rather than 3), which I preferred for my crafting purposes, so I am having to scale down the designs I put onto the lids using polymer clay. Please see photo and more examples at my Etsy shop, called Claytheism. I do have what will sound like a trivial complaint, and that is the labels on the bottom of each piece are impossible to remove without damaging the surface of the box. Since I paint the bottoms to coordinate with the color of polymer clay on the lids, this really mars the overall effect.

There are great for what I need them for, but they have tags on the bottom that do not come all the way off and that is a problem because I use them professionally. So I don't love that. But quality, size and durability are all very good.

You should know that these boxes are bigger than 3". They are closer to almost 4", and 2" deep. I thought at first I had received the wrong boxes but the label on the plastic of the boxes they were packaged in states 3". I was going to use these for a craft project and had to alter my idea because the boxes were larger than I thought they would be and I didn't have time to return them or get smaller ones. Other than that, they are your basic square box.

I needed 40 inexpensive boxes to protect the tiny glass Christmas pickle ornaments I bought for my themed Christmas bags. (If you do not know what a Christmas pickle is, then type it into your Amazon search box)! I reproduced a picture of the pickle which i will glue on the top of the box and the recipients will then have the pickle ornaments ready to store and easily identifiable. These boxes would work well to protect any type of jewelry or other small glass ornaments.
