This applicator makes it easy to reach your ceilings and upper walls and to paint neatly where they join and also around windows, doors, trim, etc.The construction of the pieces seems solid and there are no sharp or unfinished edges. The foam grip on the handle is thick and sturdy and provides a good amount of grip when using the tool. The handle pieces seem to be the standard size for brooms, mops, and squeegees. The head of the applicator doesn't accept a standard-size handle, so the final handle piece that connects to the head of the applicator has threads that are adapted to a smaller size. All of the pieces fit well together and snug up nicely. They won't work their way loose and won't come undone until you take them apart. It was very nice of the manufacturer to include so many handle pieces. With this tool, even a person in a wheelchair can comfortably paint a ceiling or a tall wall. As a bonus, since most of the handle pieces are a standard size, if you ever need to extend a broom, mop, squeegee, or other similar tool, the handle from this applicator would come in handy. The head of the applicator has a collar around a ball-joint that fits into a dip in the applicator. You can control the amount of swivel or prevent it from swiveling entirely depending on how tightly you screw the collar on. The wheels on one side of the applicator work perfectly to control paint placement along edges, rolling smoothly and keeping you from accidentally painting a neighboring wall, ceiling, or other obstruction. The applicator came with an RSL43A pad already on it. Two replacement pads are included and more are readily available here on Amazon. You can use this tool with a dry pad on it to dust the wall or ceiling before painting. When it comes to painting, the bristles on the pad are uniform in length, which helps to make the paint go on smoothly and give full coverage. I recommend using a tray and not putting a lot of paint into it. That way, when you dip the applicator into the paint, it will only get onto the pad's bristles.Cleanup is easy. The whole thing comes apart into small, manageable pieces that can be washed in any sink or tub. The applicator and handle are waterproof and the pads can be removed, hand-washed, and set aside to air dry.Instructions for pad removal and replacement weren't included, but a bit of fiddling showed me how it's done. You can use your fingernails or a small screwdriver or other thin tool to pry the white plastic at one end of the pad away from the applicator and then pull the pad off. To put a new pad on, hook the next pad onto one side of the applicator and wrap the plastic at the other end of the pad around the other side of the applicator, tugging on the plastic to get it to wrap around the other side of the applicator until it snaps into place. The pads fit snugly and won't come off until you take them off.

I will never buy rolls of painters tape again, but cutting-in is not a skill I have. Years ago, I bought an edger hoping the results would be good enough that I could get away with it and sell my house. The results were actually fantastic. We will never paint without a painting edger.Professional painters don't have time to use painter's tape. They use cutting-in techniques. That's called skilled painting and we don't have those skills! One thing I wish is that I had purchased a larger edger back when I bought my first one. I wasn't trying to get into tiny crevices. I was trying to put a "border" of paint around the top of my kitchen wall so that I would not have to use painters' tape. I did not want to paint the ceiling. I got on the countertop and walked around the diameter of the room rolling the edger at the ceiling. WHAT A TIME-SAVER! Then I just used the largest roller brush I could to reach up to that border and I was done. I can't believe it worked so well. (I might have done a little cutting-in around the window frames. I hate taping or I wouldn't mind painting at all). This edger is larger than the one that I used years ago (which I cannot find). It also has the telescopic pole! We won't be climbing on countertops! If I like, I CAN also paint the ceiling. I just don't want to tape. I suppose some people would rather tape. It gets expensive and it's time-consuming. These edgers work like a charm, and there are little tricks you can use to make sure there is no gapping. For painting, it's a must, and a great value. I really like that this one comes with the pole.

Pros:- The edger has a screw mechanism on the head that allows for you to lock it at an angle of your choosing. This was good for edging the many angled wall connections of our cathedral ceiling.- Edger works best on walls that meet at right angles.- The fabric/fleece covered pads have a long pile and can accept a good amount of paint.- Extra pads were included, saving a trip to the hardware store on painting days.- Foam wrapped handle provided decent “grip” even with gloved hands or when wet with a paint glob.Cons:- The handle is designed to add/remove extension pieces by screwing additional segments on/off. The poles go together initially with no issue, but once paint dries at the pole joining parts, it is much harder to add/remove segments.- Despite the mechanism that locks the head, the edger wasn’t as adaptable as we actually needed for our job. Some of our ceilings slope down and meet the wall at an angle that is less than 90°. In those wall joins, the edger transferred wall paint to the ceiling.- The pads have a tendency to de-laminate/unglue along the primary/dominant edge.Technique tips:- Carefully apply/re-load the fabric pads with a brush verifying you don’t have any on the wheels or wheel edge.- Don’t overload the pad; pull pad using consistent pressure; go slowly enough that the paint deposits smoothly and evenly- Only use the edger in a single direction/plane of movement; no back and forth to achieve cleanest finish.Overall:This is a good bundle for edging walls. The various components were functional and capable of doing the job they were purchased for, and the extension pole could be re-used for other applications that also have a universal screw thread connection like paint rollers, mops, squeegies, etc. The price was more than fair considering all that was included in the bundle. Good but not quite great item. 4*
