What is it?

VVT solenoid is responsible for changing the position of the camshafts in the engine. It works on oil pressure, and can either advance or retard cam position to provide the right performance from the engine. Each camshaft is equipped with a VVT solenoid, which is capable of altering the supply of oil pressure to the camshaft depending on the speed and load of the engine. If the VVT solenoid is

not working properly, the Check Engine light will come on and your engine will perform noticeably worse.

The most common cause for VVT solenoid problems is dirty oil, which clogs the screen that sits between solenoid and VVT pressure switch. If it doesn’t operate, the VVT system will remain disengaged, which can adversely impact engine performance, fuel economy and more.Because of located at camshaft, the only time it will be inspected is if you are experiencing problems with VVT system, or the Check Engine light illuminates and the computer provides a camshaft position or VVT system related code.

I was hesitant to buy these considering how much cheaper they are over OEM. But they matched up perfectly and work great. Swapped them to fix a rough idle problem and haven't had any issues since.

Although the part was correct, the bolts on my car doesn't align with this part, it fit just fine, but I had to break off the connector side part where the bolt would fit in just to put it in, the metal part will not align where the original part did. It fits snug and hasn't popped out but my check engine light came on again. Will have to do more research in finding the exact part. The part number is correct but it still doesn't align with the original part that was taken off....

Theres really not much to say. They matched very closely to my 2002 Toyota Sienna and fixed my 2, 4, 6 misfire and check engine light. I only used one because one was damaged and the other was still ok.It would very smart and highly advisable to to add a bit of seafoam to your oil and perform an oil change before installing this. I would also suggest adding a capfulls of new oil to all the solenoid orifices before installing to prevent a dry start. Just be careful not to get oil on the wiring. My van ran much better after installing this. From junk to a dream. Be sure you have a vvt solenoid malfunction first though!
