I never thought this amp was _bad_ sounding, but these new tubes replaced the originals. Of course 10-year-old tubes were ready to swap, but this is night-and-day better than this great little amp ever sounded. It was _never_ this clear, this bright, or this deep. A stunning difference that makes it more detailed, more clear, more gnarly. In general it makes the SuperChamp sound like a bigger amp.The SuperChamp takes 2 of these and one 12AX7 for the preamp. I installed a fresh Tung-Sol 12AX7.I’ve only had these installed for a week or two, so they’re still burning-in. Every time I’ve played, the sound has been better. I do believe these Genelex power tubes are the best, certainly for the money, for this amp. I may try a different 12AX7 to experiment with the tone, but really no complaints with the TungSol so far.Now curious to hear Genelex replacements in my early-model JOLIDA combination stereo amp.
