We bought this for my Dad for Christmas, he keeps scrap wood in old plastic garbage bins in the yard and we thought he'd like an upgrade. I asked my husband to put it together before I ordered it. Once he agreed, I bought it.Look, for $40 it isn't Desert Eagle-proof steel but it's sturdy enough to serve it's purpose which is to hold wood. It came with a few scratches and worn spots but since this will be outdoors in Buffalo NY I'm sure the weather will do to wear it down than the shipping process did.My husband bought a 96" piece of wood (a 2x4?) and cut it in half into two 48" pieces. So the rack assembled (using the wood we bought & cut) is 4 feet wide. He had no issue at all putting it together and I know my Dad will love it!

Nice that you can customize this to whatever size you want. I made it 5 feet long. Seems sturdy enough. It requires 2- 2x4’s to make up the rack..but I used two 4x4 posts, and notched the ends to fit into the holder-My preference, just to make it more beefy, and stable. See picsJack it up on a couple of patio blocks to keep your 2x4’s(or whatever you use) up off the ground, add a rack cover, and you’re good to go.Very happy with the product.NOTE... You need to add 2 pcs of wood to make the base of the rack! It states that in the description. I knew that,,that’s why I bought this type. So I can make it whatever size I wanted.

I installed this with 8 foot 2x4's and weather proofed decking screws. Took about 10 minutes to put together. Then I stacked it very high with heavy hardwood - all the way to the top. Has held strong and held up well for over a year. Very happy with it so far. Recommend putting cinder blocks between the 2x4 lumber and the ground to avoid the lumber from rotting and to keep termites out of your wood stock - termites won't crawl up the cinder blocks, and any termites already in your wood pile will starve shortly after putting the wood on this rack.Update: 1+ year later and still works great! Not a spec of rust, and I have it loaded to full capacity with very heavy hardwood over an 8 foot span (8 foot 2x4s). Works great.

I purchased another after setting up the first. Love the option of sliding the ends closer together as the woodpile gets smaller. This is a very practical way to hold fire pit wood in my suburban backyard. Just buy a couple of 2x4's and you are good to go. Brilliant! The less metal involved the less rust and maintenance to worry about over time. So glad the bottom rungs are wood (the 2x4's) and not metal!!

These adjustable ends were fantastic! I was very happy with them. I actually put them on 18 foot loads, 16 feet apart. They worked well. Unfortunately, my wife put them on blocks of cement that were just big enough for the racks, and then built them higher, about 3 or logs higher, putting chimneys at each end to raise them higher than the ends called for. Well, to make a long story short, the device fell over, I think because of the small cement blocks, of which I used 3. In the future, I will use 6 blocks of cement to make them much more stable. I will buy them again, I believe in them so. The reason I use the cement blocks is that I put the wood rack in the woods, and the scrub brush grows up quite high and the cement blocks do provide a weed free base. The wood I have been using is Ipe from Brazil, so it is extremely tough. I don't know what will happen if I used pine instead.

This was very easy to assemble. I filled it up the day after I received it and it is sturdy - no wobble or shakiness. I really packed it full. It looks good and lifts the split wood is out of the dirt and moisture. I sure hope that it lasts for several years. I threw a plastic tarp over it so the snow and rain is kept out. I feel that it was a good purchase at a good price.

Just got the log rack brackets today. Was packed well & shipped/ received very quickly. Very easy to assemble. Already had spare pieces of treated 2x4s to use on unit. Used full-length 8-ft boards through the brackets. Holes in brackets were plenty big enough to accommodate. Made certain I picked as straight pieces as I could find. Make sure the crown is up when sliding ends through brackets (sight down the board at an angle & you can easily see which side is more curved upward). Crown goes up so when you put the weight of logs on the unit it will bow back downward.Make sure you use treated lumber and also deck screws (does not come with any)for assembly. Drywall or other metal screws should not be used with treated wood. I cut three cripple (cross-bracing) pieces of lumber at 10-in long and mounted between the long ones for stability and strength. Note: You have to spread the bottom of the brackets a bit to put those in. You can make them what length you want but, 10-in seemed optimum to me. I also mounted 22-in long pieces at each end of unit for sort of an anti-tip solution. Set the unit onto 8x16-in top (concrete) blocks and leveled. The unit seemed fairly solid at that point...the weight of the wood will do the rest.Took no time at all and looks just fine. Might even order me another one down the road.

The Panacea Adjustable Length Log Rack is perfect for my entry way. I placed a inexpensive rug under it to save the tile floor from any weight marks and loaded it up! Also bought a cedar 2x4 for the base to repel bugs and cut it to fit the space available. Having a big load of wood in the house has been great as this November has been the snowiest on record for my location and I didn't have to go outside at night for more wood! It will be easy to store (not take up much space) when winter ends.
