The Panasonic PV-9451 is an excellent performer loaded with features that make it fun and easy to use. Even without reading the instructions, we had this straightforward product up and running in just a few minutes. This VCR sets the time automatically on the front panel and internal clock displays. (The VCR grabs the data from the local PBS broadcast.) Recording a program is easy with the VCR Plus+ feature; TV Guide and many newspapers list a code number for each program and you simply key the number of your desired program into the VCR.
Thanks to Panasonic's "Dynamorphous" recording heads, pictures held up well even when blown up on a big-screen projection TV and when recording on the slowest (SLP) speed. Hi-fi soundtracks (of action flicks and new concert video compilations) came across full bodied and clean.
The onscreen operating menu is another big help in getting the show up and running. It works smoothly with Panasonic's Light Tower remote, which hosts big buttons that glow in the dark when you hit the Light Bulb button.
Trick play features are decent on this economically priced VCR. We loved the 1 Minute button, which skips through a 60-second commercial in just eight seconds while offering video scanning onscreen. The PV-9451 has only one fast-forward/reverse speed and one slow-motion speed. In addition, this VCR offers index searching and scanning that pauses at the start of each recording segment on a tape. You can also call up an onscreen program index that shows the time, date, channel, and type (optional) of every timed recording made on a tape, as long as the cassette is in the machine. You can record brief index notes at the opening of tape segments.
We have one minor complaint about this VCR: Panasonic's fine-edged recording/playback heads for the SLP mode are excellent if you are watching a slow-speed recording, but they sometimes mistrack when you are watching super long play (SLP) recordings made on older decks. However, standard play tapes--including prerecorded rental tapes--were excellent.

Most of the time nowadays when you buy a vcr off the internet you can't really rely on it but at least this one is reliable. The only downside to it is that it didn't come with a remote but that is a small price to pay due to the fact that you can buy a spare one on any major shopping website.

This VCR works great. The clarity is great and the tracking works great on older VHS movies. It came with a copy of the original manual and the remote control. It was also very easy to set up with our TV and sound system.

The machine arrived with a remote that didn't go with the VCR itself. There was also a plastic rattling sound within the machine, but, it was decided to try to watch the video tape that was waiting for the VCR anyway. It worked for a bit, but when we pushed Stop, that was that. The tape was stuck in the machine and we had to disassemble the VCR in order to retrieve the video tape. At least we still have that.

This product was defective. The picture quality was very bad and had horizontal wavy lines. The sound quality was bad, and it sounded like the VHS was under water. The rewind, forward, play and stop buttons did not work at all. At first I thought it was my VHS tape that was defective. When I put my tape into my old VCR (Same brand) it played beautifully. I had my old vcr for over 30 years and still works great. I had wanted an extra VCR.I returned the product to amazon, and received my refund promptly.

I replaced my wife's old broken VCR, as she refused to upgrade : ( This used system works just fine. Even my wife is satisfied with it. What more can I say ? I believe that she thinks the world is still flat too... btw.

Its a pretty simple product to get right...shipping out a used vcr cant be hard...but they managed to forget the remote.Heads also hadn't been cleaned and were picking up images poorly until I ran a cleaning tape through.Product is fine, but seller failed to deliver properly on a very simple purchase.

I thought it would be nice to have a VHS player to play the tapes I had from the past. What a letdown when we picked up the package at the post office in a feeble looking medium egg crate box which was stained and so uninviting, I never looked inside. When I proceeded to try to return it I got such a runaround from Pursuance which was selling it I actually have a file of twenty e-mails and correspondence back and forth. At a price of $96.00 and change I expected better. No remote and the scratches on the unit, which was told me via e-mails after shipment. Amazon was wonderful with the help we needed dealing with this bur the sellers were not. A totally disappointing transaction.
