I had a VCR for a long time and it finally went out. I was so glad to find one that I didn't need to throw away my new DVD players for. It works great and am having fun watching my videos again. Thanks

I had to stop using SP recording & use only LP or SLP as SP became too grainy after a couple of months. This makes a lot of noise on rewind! The remote has buttons not compatible with multiremotes. The some remote buttons are tiny-- as people have said. Its a pretty cheap vcr now & its the only one I could find with commercial advance other than the go video vcr which is a lot more. Programming it is a drag because you have to hit up/down every time for each minute or hour. I suppose mind needs a cleaning, which I can do to get recording back in SP speed. Fair enough, but there is nothing I can do about the noise on rewind. The buttons on front are larger than usual. The front lcd display shows more than just nbrs, it shows PLAY, REC, etc so you know what its doing., But if you hear a loud whirrrrrrrrr youll know its rewinding without looking at the display. It's not compatible with my Guide Plus feature either, grrrrrrrr!.....

After reading the reviews posted here I see that Panasonic must have a serious quality control issue with these units. Mine arrived last week and was easy enough to set up. I didn't record anything for a few days. I recorded a show last Sunday night and could not believe my eyes/ears when I played the tape back. There are some serious tracking issues. Snow all over the screen and a flat, hum-laden audio signal were all I could get out of playback. I spent hours testing verious settings, connections, etc. with the same result each time. I'm returning this VCR pronto and looking at reviews more closely next time.

This VCR has many fine bells and whistles--"features," they call them. I was glad it had them. It was also fairly easy to install and set up. But I was greatly disappointed with the quality of the picture. At first I thought the poor picture quality might be due to poor tapes, so I tried a variety of tapes, from brand-new commercially manufactured tapes to older (fine) tapes I'd made off the TV. All tapes appeared grainy, with poor color saturation. The reds and dark browns were especially bad. My old VCR, also a Panasonic, which I have used for over 10 years, produced a far better picture from all tapes, new and old. I very rarely return a product to the seller, but in this case I felt bound to. I knew that if I kept it and continued to use it, I would feel nothing but irritation and frustration with the inferior picture quality.

I love the features of this VCR, especialy the automatic commercial advance. The VCR marks the beginning and end of commercials and then automatically fast forwards through them on playback. A time-shifter's dream! I previously reviewed this as 3 stars because it was incompatible with my new Panasonic HDTV set. I found out that the TV was the problem, not the VCR. Now that I have hooked it up to my Sony XBR HDTV, I am very pleased with my purchase.

This VCR is great. The picture looks like a DVD playback, and the sound is first rate. The vcr plus took three days instead of overnight to set up, but that was really no problem. The vcr timer continues to work during set up.

This VCR has many wonderful bells and whistles, like commercial advance, many indexing searches and great displays. BUT the recordings are terrible. I had to return this VCR. It is also noisy which you don't notice if it is in a glassed cabinet. the remote is easy to learn but the buttons are unbelievably tiny.
