Fits perfectly on my 1980 Johnson 50 HP outboard. Product says years 1984+ so I was skeptical about it fitting on an older motor. Gave it try and it only took about 10 minutes tops to install it. We'll have to see how well it performs and stands the test of time. Seems pretty sturdy though! I will have to take the screws out to change my gear lube as it covers a bit of the drain bolt. Pretty easy still

I brought my boat home from storage on Tuesday to use Labor Day weekend. I immediately broke the skeg on the edge of the garage floor. I was so angry! 1978 70HP Evinrude. Perfect fit after cutting off the small lip on the bottom of the remaining OEM skeg with a sanding disk on a 4-1/2" grinder. I had broken my OEM skeg on some hidden rocks along with the prop. With the new skeg no problem with interference of lower unit oil drain plug. I repaired one on another motor years ago by welding on a replacement skeg - that is a real PITA taking a lot of time and someone who really knows how to weld aluminum. Cost was more than twice as much. This slip-on skeg comes with attachment screws, allen wrench and thread locker. Quick install!

Fits like a glove. Thick, solid metal. Bottom/underside is metal as well (not open or uncovered). There is a drain hole on one of the sides, near the bottom. Lots of extra hardware provided (mine came with 6 bolts, 4 nuts, 2 allen wrenches and 1 tube of loctite).

I liked the fit and simplicity of installation. It is a good product. I didn't put I love it because of the price. In my opinion is a bit steep.
