Using one sheet flat against the other, oriented 90 degrees to reach other, they should block most light. However, these sheets allow more light through than other polarised lenses, such as polarised (even inexpensive) sunglasses. I'll be returning mine because their effectiveness too is limited for my purposes.

I used this to fix the faded LCD displays on my son's motorcycle. I only replaced the film on the front of the LCD glass, but it did a good enough job for me.

This film is 90 degrees off for the use was planning. My fault as I did not read the description completely. The picture that is dark in landscape mode shows that it is dark when I needed it to be light. The picture with landscape that is clear and portrait that is dark is what I needed. My bad for picking the wrong one.My only complaint, and why they lost a star, is that the sheets are not labelled clearly as to which side is the sticky side. I discovered that the side with the line drawn on it was the sticky side.good for small projectsthanks..Stan...
