Installed a previously used 500GB NVme into this and plugged it into my motherboard's pcie port and it worked without configuring anything. My computer immediately recognized the drive. I got this because my second NVme slot on my motherboard was partially damaged so this fit in my spare pcie 16 slot. My speed for a gen 3 was 1600 MB/s. So I'm happy enough.

This adapter is very simple to use, you just align the SSD retention guide to the notch in the card itself and screw it down so it stays in place, then install the whole thing into a spare PCIe slot in your computer and you're good to go. My computer is an older workstation that predates native NVMe slots, but the drivers for NVMe are built into Windows 10 and sure enough this loaded up and is working perfectly in my computer. It can't be used as a boot device, but for adding some storage into an unused PCIe slot it's a really convenient addition. There is a red activity LED on top of the card, though the bracket is solid metal and you won't see it from the rear of the PC. Under PCIe generation 2.0 I was able to get read and write speeds of around 420MB/s, which is as just about as good as any decent SATA SSD these days, so I'm very happy. 5-stars!
