The SMBLCE PCI-E X1 to SATA 3.0 Controller Card is a solid and affordable choice for adding extra storage to your PC. It installs easily into any PCIe x1, x4, x8, or x16 slot and works well with Windows and Linux systems. I appreciated that it came with both the data and power cables needed for setup, which saved me a trip to the store. The speeds are decent for normal use like backups or adding extra hard drives, though heavy users might notice slower transfers when using multiple drives at once, due to the x1 lane bandwidth limits. It’s not built for RAID, but for straightforward drive expansion, it’s a great value. If you just need more SATA ports without the fuss, this little card gets the job done well.

I’ve been running UNRAID with 5 HDDs on an N100 motherboard for the last 8 months. The motherboard has 6 SATA ports, 2 M.2 ports, and a single PCIe x 1 slot. I wanted to add 3 SATA drives to my build. Since I’m already using the M.2 ports for NVMe SSDs, my only alternative is a PCIe x1 card like this one. Installation was seamless. I installed the card and plugged in the drives. UNRAID recognized the card and drives automatically, and everything worked without issues.
