I recently bought a Nikon Z5II and was looking for something to replace the crappy strap that came with it. I originally bought a wrist strap for my camera and it was a little too bulky for my camera bag. This one is small and virtually unnoticeable until you hold the camera. It is also surprisingly comfortable. The best part is that the tripod plate that comes with it attaches perfectly to the PD clip v3, but my one minor complaint is that the clip doesn’t attach to my tripods gimble. I use the Manfroto pistol grip gimble and I have to change the plate every time when I want to use the tripod but since I have to slow down for it anyways, it doesn’t really bother me all that much.

Love this peak design micro clutch! It fits perfectly to my Canon eos R8 and adds a secure but minimal grip. The mount is also compatible with the peak design Capture Camera clip. No more fiddling with neck/wrist straps. This is the only minimal set up you need!

Pas mal, mais un peu compliqué avec un Canon R5ii (limite pour y mettre 2 doigts) et faut obligatoirement l'enlever pour changer la batterie.

I bought this in Dec 2023 and have been wrestling with it ever since.I knew that to change batteries I'd have to remove the strap from the attaching plate but did not realise what a pain in the butt that is, especially when out in the field. Every time I make a battery change, I have to re-set how the plate is set up to fit my hand. It's always a trial and error to some degree.Second, attaching the strap to the top of the camera body was nearly impossible. That may explain why the strap feels too small for my hand.I expected more of Peak-Design. I've since changed brands of hand straps.

Great item, but clearly used and damaged. I already had one for my digital camera, and decided to get one for my analog. Was not stoked to see that the one I got shows clear signs of use, and even has some damage to the strap. It’s still functional, and I’m hoping it will maintain durability, but the small tear on the strap rubs against my hand and isn’t comfortable. I’m not going to return it, because I don’t feel comfortable wasting the shipping/travel-related pollution, but paying full price for a used, damaged product is annoying.

Fitted it to my Sony A6600 which was simple and it all looks great. However the strap was way too small for me to use comfortably how I would have like to hold my camera. I could only just wrap a few fingers around the camera which them felt insecure to me

Most of the complaints seem to be around things that cannot be solved without a fully customizable or personalized setup. I have this attached to an a7iv and it does what it's supposed to. It's a little finnicky but what hand strap isn't? If you want all 4 fingers secured no strap will allow your index finger to manipulate the shutter. I had the original peak clutch on a the full size A99 and it was about the same where I had to wear it a little loose. So it is not really a problem with the camera size or mount points. I like that unlike the full size clutch I can opt to secure only 3 fingers extra tight and have my index finger float. This setup allows the camera to not fall out with gripping just fine. Not having access to the battery door can be annoying, but the fairly quick release and magnetic tool storage is an acceptable tradeoff. My only actual complaint is that it is not made for quick adjustments and the holes for fitting the strap are too far apart and I have to choose between too tight or too loose. Maybe one day we can get a ratcheting fastener too alleviate this but I'd imagine it'd drive the cost way up.

I tried this on a Nikon Z50 mirrorless. It was a good fit, minimalist hand strap that works well for having your camera secure and ready to go for street photography. My experience with Peak Design is with their camera straps and bags and have been highly impressed with the quality, and it's all priced accordingly. I use a Clutch V2 for my D5600 and I love it for its security and ease of adjustability for when I am carrying and when I'm shooting. It's supremely easy to tighten and loosen the Clutch V2 in under a second with the type of strap tightening system even if it means having to have the quick release plate on the bottom of the camera as part of the strap. This review pretty much compares the Micro Clutch to my experiences with the Clutch V2.Love:The integrated rotating strap on the L-plate. Moves nicely every time.Integrated magnetic tool for installing and removing the plate to the camera.ARCA tripod attachment doubles as a quick release plate for the Capture (works fantastically!).I have medium hands and can fit 3 fingers into the strap with the Z50 for a great grip.Doesn't get in the way during bag storage.Meh:L-plate covers the battery door and must remove each time to get at memory or swap batteries.Cannot easily tighten or loosen the strap while holding camera; mechanism different from Clutch.Hard to use front dial, shutter, and power switch on Z50 sometimes without easy tighten/loosen option.I get a little freaked out when I have a heavier lens on the camera knowing it's just one pin securing the strap. When using an FTZ mount adapter on lenses, the tripod foot gets in the way and prevents smooth rotation and locking of the lens. It makes contact and will eventually wear down the metal on one or both pieces. Also the FTZ completely BLOCKS access to the magnetic tool needed to install/remove the L-plate so you have to remove the lens in order to remove the L-plate. This would not apply to the FTZ II as that version lacks the tripod foot.I attached a picture of the Micro Clutch alongside my Clutch V2 to compare the sizes. I don't mind using this strap at all and it is pretty comfortable and I can easily adapt to its shortcomings, but I think the Clutch V2 is just a more convenient piece of hardware for my usage. I think this would be better used for smaller mirrorless cameras or where you wouldn't swap lenses much or at all and can plug a cord in to charge your camera and transfer images. It's just too cumbersome having to always remove the lens to remove the tool to remove the plate on the Z50 just to get to the SD card or swap batteries so I cannot recommend it for the Z50. If my SD card were on the side of the body, like my D5600, then maybe it's less irritating, but I can't charge my battery through the camera (like my Z50) so it's still a hassle every single time.I think it's a great product, but just doesn't justify switching from the Clutch V2 for the Z50. The Clutch V2 on the Z50 could be slimmed down a bit, but I love its fast adjustment from tight (carrying) to loose (shooting). I shot with the Micro Clutch for 2 weeks before deciding to return it as it is expensive. I bet this used on a Z30 or any Nikon 1 mirrorless would be terrific so it might be worth a try.

The Peak Design Micro Clutch stand true to the company’s name. It’s a great design and it’s extremely well built. I have it installed on a Sony a6000 and traveled all of Italy with a comfortable grip on the camera. This grip is even comfortable with a long telephoto lens mounted on the camera. Battery changes are easy too with the built in tool.Overall great design and I definitely recommend. I bought a second one for my full frame Sony a7R V. It’s very comfortable even on the larger camera body and with heavier full frame lenses.
