Thermal softshell toe cover blocks wind with Kevlar bottom for rugged outsoles Description Let’s get real; toe covers are an great way to deal with cold weather. They can be pulled over the toe of most cycling shoes and left on for the whole winter, and people do more miles on 45-degree days than they do on 25-degree days (even in Canada). Our toe cover uses our AmFIB softshell fabric to keep out the wind and rain and we positioned the band to sit behind toe spikes so that they will work with road or mountain shoes. Kevlar on the underside increases durability while the hook and loop closure makes the fit adjustable and the mounting quick. The general rule of thumb is the simpler the better. Many detergents with additives leave "surfactants" behind on a fabric's fibers that inhibit the technical performance. Typically the best detergents to use will have "Clear" or "Free" in their names. Don't pour the detergent directly onto the clothing, put it in the washer first, when you start the water. If something is not functionally working, but is not dirty, try rinsing it twice in warm to hot water. This will help get rid of the harmful surfactants. READ THE CONTENT CARE LABEL: On the inside of your garment, or on the hangcard, there are instructions for the care of that individual piece. On garments this will be on a side seam or back seam label. Follow those directions. On finer fabrics, use a "Gentle" cycle. Close all zippers, attach "hook and loop" closures on gloves YOU CAN USE THE DRYER, CAREFULLY: If you use a dryer be sure to use a lower / warm heat setting (Do NOT use a commercial dryer or a "Hot" setting). This will often restore the fabric and help the water and wind repellent qualities. If in doubt, hang the clothing to dry.

I ride in cold and rainy weather regularly. When the temperature is in the 40s or 50s I use these instead of full shoe covers. Most toe covers wear out at the bottom and the rider gets off and get scraped on the road. These are secure, stay in place, warm and rugged. I like them so much I bought them for a couple of friends.

I have ordered AmFIB Pro Toe Covers and received regular version that doesn't have Kevlar support. Need to return or exchange for correct version. I should have bought from Pearl Izumi directly as it is cheaper and they would send hopefully the correct product.

As of the request of this review, I still have not received the item purchased. When they do arrive, I will be able to properly review the toe warmers.Update: The toe warmers arrived and worked great. Due to international shipping they did take some time to get here, but arrived by the estimated time. The covers fit well and are very secure. Would definitely recommend when the weather is too warm for full boots but just enough chill on the toes. I used them at night with a low of 46 degrees and felt I could go to the mid to low 30’s.

These fit over the toe of a size 43 mountain shoe pretty well. As far as keeping the air from entering your breathable shoes, it works. As for adding warmth, not so much. The function of stopping the air flow allows your toes to stay warmer than without. The covers do not provide additional warmth. Good to 45 degrees.

I grew up in New England doing winter hiking, and mountain climbing. Had severe frostbite and thought I might lose some toes, but didn't. Left them very sensitive to cold. I'm an ex-competitive cyclist and ride my road bikes year-round. I've been using Pearl-Izumi's lighter toe covers for years. These are better, warmer, and the Kevlar makes them much more durable. They cover more area too.

These keep my toes warm down to about 25 degrees (F) ..provided I wear some thick/warm socks. They keep out the wind & rain.
