The lead isn’t a smooth to draw with. It can break on then sleights pressure and makes it a challenge because I wanted this for my mechanical pencil for drawing on the go.

I used this lead to fill my zebra 0.5mm mechanical pencil and it has worked great. Minimal breakage and it shows up well on white paper. Great for under drawings.

They work as designed. They are more brittle than typical pencil lead because they are not pencil lead. Knowing that, they do what I need them to do.

I hate my coworkers, and I try my best to ensure they know I do. Now when I write letters to threaten their wellness and families, I can add a whole new sense of intimidation

I like to sketch with red lead at times so when I got this lead to replace what I thought I didn't have with me it was a bit difficultFirst, my order was lost, then I had to replace it. Honestly I would have gone for a refund and got the other brand I usually do. This has a more waxy, colored pencil feel than "red lead". So if you're looking for red lead with decent strength, feels like normal graphite, and isn't too bright, this might not be up your alley. But it may be one of those "it'll grow on you" deals. So take my review with a grain of salt.

Strong red leads, maybe a little hard to erase though.

I've used these before in mechanical pencils and the only drawback is they are more brittle than the regular leads and break more easily especially if you have too much of the lead extended. But, they are very useful if you need the added color, just be careful with them.

Kinda difficult to erase, but I definitely expected that, I draw lightly with this anyway so it doesn't bother me or ruin the drawing, especially when I'm going over the lines with black ink.Doesn't break easily as your typical 0.7mm (I know this is 0.5mm) graphite lead, even in a 0.5mm "shaker" mechanical pencil.Leaves a vibrant yet light red hue.

I have read the bad reviews of this product and they are almost all cases of people not knowing enough about this thing to use it properly. This is a colored pencil lead, which means it is not graphite, but colored wax, so it is a lot more brittle than standard pencils. Yes, it does break more readily if you push down hard, and that is the nature of colored pencils in general. That being said, if you need dark red lines for engineering or corrections, this is simply not the product for you. It is not faulty. You simply need the 0.9mm lead or a red pen.holds up better than other 0.5mm colored leads i have used. I am a sketch artist, so I use these for light starter lines. If you want a darker thin line from this, you need to go over it a few times (which, again, is the nature of colored pencils in general as they are a Transparent Medium, NOT Opaque like graphite usually is)Overall, this colored lead works just as well as my artist grade colored pencils for sketching and I would recommend these for that purpose.
