Got this to provide writing darker than 2B. Relative darkness varies with writing surface; sometimes darker, sometimes hard to tell apart. Generally the softer lead produces a slightly broader line.Good product, but not as much difference from 2B as I had expected.

I've used Pentel .05 technical drawing pencils for decades, and can't get by without having them on hand. I'm very happy to find these boxes of .05 and .07 leads, as they're no longer available locally at our Hobby Lobby or Michael's. I generally use 2B and 4B leads, as I find the HB leads that come with the technical pens are just dark enough. I highly recommend this product.

Very pleased with the 3B version. Almost as dark as ink. Actually I tested it on a page with other text written using a black Gel ink pen, and it's not easy to tell them apart from a quick glance. Looks great on math notes etc.Initially it broke slightly more often than the HB version. But once I built the habit of not using as much force as when using a HB lead, it doesn't break much. Still quite strong at 3B.I'm very happy with the 3B lead, and will never go back to HB :)Edit 2023-10-02: I got some Pentel 4B leads as well. I found 4B to be too soft and the lines are not as crispy. On the other hand, 3B is as dark as 4B. It seems 3B has the best balance of crispiness and darkness. It's my personal favorite right now.

Resistentes y se nota que son 2H, los uso para los bocetos de mis dibujos ya que son fáciles de borrar, muy bien todo

These are fantastic to write with, if a tad soft. They don’t just evaporate either though. I really appreciate the light touch I can use with these cause my hands cramp up easily taking notes. One caution if you use a Kuru Toga—you need to use slightly too much pressure with these for the turning mechanism to work.

Tried this on a whim, hoping it wouldn't be too soft and smear. Bought it for a family member who is an avid Sudoku puzzle fan. The dark lead is easier to see on puzzle paper. Doesn't break easily and still erases clean.I will only buy this lead from now on. The color is ideal!

Son resistentes a pesar de ser 3B, la escritura y dibujo con ellas es muy suave. Recomendado.

Prefer a soft lead as using pressure when writing aggravates my arthritis. I used to use 2B, but as Pentel keeps trying to improve the durability, they now need more pressure for a nice dark image. I found that they had 3B so I ordered a whole box. These do break more easily than a normal lead such as an HB, but I use very little pressure when I write, so I don’t have any difficulties.

There is not much to say, but Amazon keeps urging me to write a review. 0.5 mm is the most usual pencil so having a supply of lead refills is always good. The usual hardness available in most stores is HB, roughly what is considered No. 2 pencil. Towards softer grades is B, 2B and 3B, so this reviewed grade is pretty soft. But it makes it easier to write in distinct black. HB used in a sleeve 0.5 mm pencil is effectively fainter than No. 2 pencil because of the lower pressure in writing one would normally use. My preferred grade is 2B. I got the 3B because it was at that time much cheaper than any other grade. It writes well, it wears off quickly, but it does not seem to break more than others. If you like(d) Pentel products, stock up on them. From what I can tell, this type of a trapezoid package is being discontinued and the pencils are also becoming scarce. They may not be in demand. Our university bookstore is not restocking Pentel leads in the once every present display case anymore.
