Martingale collars are safer than prong collars and are more comfortable for your dog to wear. This durable, nylon, martingale collar tightens when your dog pulls and loosens when he stops, so its only tight when it needs to be. These collars give you greater control during walks while also reducing the risk of your dog slipping out of their collar.

(He looks mad because I’m bothering his nap time) I got this collar because the shelter we had gotten my pup from was using this collar and we liked the buckle, martingale, and tag ring features. The shelter one is the red in what I presume is the size medium and the one I purchased is the blue in the size large (both have been adjusted to fit his neck). And both fit him perfect! I would definitely recommend the medium for all medium and some large dogs. And the large for any large dogs with either big necks or are just strong. The medium is a bit more bendable (could have gotten soft from wear) hence why I said it could work for large dogs but I’d say only for the more gentle and no pullers. It’s an amazing collar b/c it fulfills my personal wants for my pup and my pup’s needs. This new blue one feels very sturdy and could hold a strong dog and heavy puller. Although we had to tighten it nearly all the way for the large size to fit his neck, it still fits him and we decided on the large for the sturdiness since he’s a puller. The collar also is not heavy and the martingale feature makes the collar comfortable for my boy. Martingale collars are amazing for teaching your dogs not to pull and comfortable for the pup when they are not on a leash since it fits loosely around their necks (it won’t come off either).Update: the large ended up slipping off of his head a couple times and we had to return it and get a medium instead! Hopefully it doesn’t slip off

Our boxer keep slipping out of her collar when we held her. and when it was tight where she could not slip out it was too tight. We purchased this and it’s absolutely PERFECT. When we hold on to the loop on the collar it will tighten when needed but it’s loose when needed. It’s perfect!

Well constructed for the stitching and I suspect it would hold up fairly well with use but the sizing is very wrong. Totally off. So either the measuring instructions are off, or the product was mislabeled. But according to the tags, it's correct. The thing is way too large even at its smallest fitting, so it's a no go for now. Perhaps later on, IF my dog grows into it. But I'm not sure how well or efficient this collar will be since the nylon webbing is so slippery and doesn't even hold well in the buckles.

Good collar. Would last a lifetime but it will fade and probably will want a new bright one someday.

This collar does not fit well as the piece that pulls tight is too long. It also is easily damaged by abrasion.

My roommates Pit Bull would continually Houdini out of his harnesses. We would spend hours at least once a week having to chase him down when putting him outside on the run with any of the harnesses purchased. I purchased this collar finally to go along with the use of his harness clipping the 2 leash lead on the collar and the other clipped to the harness. If he got out of the harness still the collar would stop him from backing out of it completely and stopped him from his weekly joy runs. It's great for his walks also. When we would walk him and come across a loose pet, he use to back out of his harness to get to play with them (very friendly not a fighter) this collar stopped him from being able to do this and keeps the walk under control.

Have had this exactly 5 months. 75 lb labrador retriever that's very active. They nylon is nice and it works well as a Martingale. However, the d-ring has been showing corrosion for a couple of months now. Today was a Dog Beach day. 3 miles of off-leash fetching, so tags need to be on him. Checked my phone just before leaving and someone had found his license and tag... at the very end. So we did another 3 miles of walking to reclaim them. Tired dog is happy dog, I need the exercise anyway, but I'd pay twice the price for better durability and less risk of losing the license and tag that would be twenty-ish bucks to replace. In the pic Happy doesn't look very happy about it but actually that's his "You're not petting me" sulk :)

I have a 102 pound dog with a long, slenderish neck (for his size) and he can back out or jump out of regular collar with ease. If you ever have had a dog like this, you know how scary this can be when you're walking outside anywhere the dog can bolt because dogs like this are usually really fast runners as well. I've had to bring my guy to a vet a few times recently and though he was fine the first time, the second he recognized the place and immediately jumped out of his collar and eyed the park across a busy street. I caught him in time but decided it was long overdue to get this kind of collar. I can see where people might say it's cruel, I used to think so too, but in reality what is cruel is the possibility of your pet getting frightened and hit by a car or lost or worse. I would only use this when we were are going somewhere, but I never used his regular collar in the house either. Dogs like mine have barrel chests (cross between great dane/greyhound) and so a harness type collar will not work, they do not make them that big. If you watch your dog carefully there is nothing wrong with a collar like this and might even save their life.

I love the PetSafe brand because I always know I'm going to get a quality item at a reasonable price. This Martingale Collar was no different. We have a new 10 month old Rottweiler who is already pushing 105 pounds. He's a big, powerful, doofus and is scared of his own shadow. So there are times when we would go on a walk and he would get scared (squirrel climbing tree, plastic bag blowing across yard...you get the idea) and try to back out of his collar to run back to the safety of home. Well, after reading some reviews, I decided to give this collar a try and could not be happier with my purchase. Simply put, these collars are life savers. Now, when my big scaredy-cat/dog gets startled and tries to back out, I don't have to worry about him escaping and running wild through our neighborhood. I took a picture of my dog trying to back out and being confused as to why he wasn't going anywhere, and even though the collar isn't visible, you can see how it functions (he's unable to back up any further). Also, as an aside, this product met all my expectations with regards to quality and craftsmanship. The weakest part of the whole collar is the plastic snap to open/close the collar. But that too is heavy-duty and after 3 months it's still going strong.
