This box is optimal for storage, for example in a tool box or workbench. Diamond needle files are universally usable in tool making. // Grit size: D 126 // Total length: 5-1/2 inch // Coating length: 2-3/4 inch // Contents: DF 4112 (hand), DF 4132 (three square), DF 4142 (square), DF 4152 (half-round), DF 4162 (round) // Materials that can be worked: hardened steels, tungsten carbide, ceramic, glass, ferrite, nickel- and titanium-based alloys, fiber-reinforced plastics (GRP/CRP) // Applications: leveling, deburring, surface work, edge work, edge work (chamfering, rounding), removing oxide layers, cleaning, fine finishing // Recommendations for use: Apply only slight pressure to the file, especially on edges. These files were absolutely magnificent, but are a a lot more course than I was anticipating, I would say roughly 80 grit! But still very many applications that these files work perfect for!

These are great. I got these files to work over hardened parts on my tumbler and sear parts for my flintlock rifles.

So many people think files are useless because they've only used cheap crap from China. Once you get a good quality file in your hands to can see how machine die work was once done to very high tolerances with nothing but files. I know these are pricey and they take some time for shipping, but they will last a lifetime. I don't recommend the diamond files unless you are filing on hardened steel or materials that would dull a normal file.

I am a serious firearms hobbyist and reloader, and own perhaps 200 files of various materials and types, including perhaps 20-30 diamond files. These I use to deburr, and smooth, and occasionally substantially reshape machined surfaces on firearms and accessories that may have rough surfaces from the factory. My experience with diamond files is that the relatively inexpensive sets one obtains from mail-order or big-box stores typically suffer from two issues: 1) the diamond coating is not very uniform, with occasional larger stones that can gouge your workpiece at inopportune times, and 2) the diamond coating is not reliably fixed to the steel carrier layer, with the coating flaking off to various degrees upon hard service. The Pferd diamond needle files have extremely uniform coatings of diamond grit that appear to be exceedingly well and firmly attached to the steel substrate. I have used them extensively on fine and medium work and have as yet no complaint about gouging or flaking of the diamond coating. As I learned long ago (but occasionally forget) it is always worth paying a premium price for good tools.

Die Dinger können also was.

Really nice files. Made in Germany. Great for detail work. I bought 1 of the Pferd small size plastic file handles which works great. Ultimately for the type of work you're likely to do with these files you don't really need the file holder, they work fine bare in your hands.I look forward to buying more Pferd files in the future!
